Now I will say that I do like Stephen A Smith form time to time but he has lost his ever loving mind saying we should trade Drew away cause the fans blame him for our season so far...who the hell he is talking to if fans are saying that dumb shite

I know the Jets and Bills are popular trading spots for hypothetical Brees trades, but I think Brees would retire before playing for either of those teams.

Brees could compete for a superbowl this year with either of those teams. Why would he retire rather than try to win another Superbowl?

That stuff could fly in New York, not a down to earth God fearing city like New Orleans.

I know it's not going to happen but if it did what would the Saints get in return?

If I were the Saints I would want Shelden Williams (along with his baggageg) and a 1st and 3rd rd draft pick in years TBD from the Jets.

The reason we would trade him is not because we blame him for the losses, but that we have a lost season on our hands. We won't compete this year and the way the Saints operated this offseason in terms of not restructuring Brees means this could be his last year in New Orleans.

Basically if our window has closed (many believe we went all in on one last run last year) and we need to rebuild, trade him and get some good value. I don't think we would trade him in season though. However I think we will definitely listen to offers in the offseason.

As a man who has spent a lot of time outdoors in Central New York in the winter I feel confident saying no freakin' way does Brees ever play for either of those teams... but especially the Bills. That stadium is hell on earth for four months every year.

I think Sheldon Richardson, a 1st and 3rd would be a great haul for Brees at his age. I don't think the Jets would give up that much. Richardson seems like a guy they will trade in the offseason if they resign Wilkerson. He will have 1 year on contract and his team option in 2017. I think the most we could hope for from a trade would be draft picks (mix of 1st and higher conditionals)

I was under the impression that it didn't make any financial sense to restructure until this upcoming offseason. If anyone can confirm that, it would be nice to put this recurring theme to rest.

The later you extend, the more flexibility and leberage the team has.

so taking the hit this year benefits the saints down the line

The rebuild started this year. We can be competitive next year depending on the draft and FA,
