Is Cooks too small to be a #1 WR?

I've yet to see one game where we can really say that him being our number one guy is the case. I think he can be a fine number two option, and give us 60-80 yards on underneath routes but he's no replacement for Graham or Stills as a true number one.

No. Size isn't indicative of skill. Look at Steve Smith and Antonio Brown. Both are the #1 WRs on their respective teams.

I still don't know why we're using him the way we are. When we drafted him everybody said to take the top off the defense and the only deep play I remember him making was in preseason.

Both of those guys play aggressive. Cooks obviously does not have that factor...

You literally proved my point. Cooks doesn't like contact, which sets him behind those two. He needs to be more physical or else he's going to go nowhere as a receiver.

Give him some time. It's only his 2nd year. He keeps getting better from everything I've seen. If he ever levels off any time soon...then I guess he's a solid #2 WR. He can still be a #1 guy imo.

Saints need to get another receiver next year high in the draft.

Like 8-10 WRs in his draft class say no.

Yea this is true. Smith relishes contact. He's an animal. It's a combination of Cooks being small, adverse to contact, and how we're using him.

While I don't think size matters depending on how the individual plays, I will say that he hasn't impressed from a physicality standpoint vs press coverage.

He literally hasn't had one game where he's been a #1

I agree. He seems content going out of bounds. Smith loves hitting folk.

He is afraid of contact plain and simple

Smith had 50 yard TD today where he broke 3 tackles. Cooks would've definitely gone out of bounds after the catch. Then Smith completely demeaned the entire Bengals secondary by calling them either trash or frickboy. Cooks ain't cut from his cloth, damn near no one is.

no, he just isnt good enough. we drafted a guy with a #1 that is equal production wise to a lance moore or willie snead.

He's currently on pace for 1,000 yards, fwiw
I think his biggest issue is that all the other receivers suck.

Which is an issue when you're 5'7

not if we have other guys that need to be accounted for, I've wanted a 6'3" guy with speed and athleticism for years though
