quote:no I'm not. I'm saying he inherited a team that he could have won with. He kicked it all off and now is trying to say he didn't inherit talent because mack brown destoyed the program. That's bullshite
basically you're arguing that UT should have hired a laid back coach to try and replicate mack's 6-8 win regular seasons instead of trying to rebuild the program to attempt to reach higher peaks. that's just ridiculous
quote:that he caused
he's rebuilding the team

Mack left some talent but there was virtually none along the OL (hence two freshmen starting) and DT (besides Malcolm Brown). Really poor team on the lines.
As for players Strong kicked off, many had failed multiple (3-5) drug tests under Mack and then failed at least two under Strong when they knew what was expected and when they were coming. Couple others were indicted for a very serious sexual assault. One threatened a coach. Nobody is missing any of those guys. Believe me when I say that although there was some talent, it was a net positive to lose them.
This year was going to be tough. 2016 needs to show evidence of competing for the conference title or then the seat will be hot in 2017. Caveat - if we go 2-10 then all bets are off.

I don't think Charlie ever said Mack destroyed the program.
