Games that people used to get geeked about for $300, Alex.

Nebraska at Miami.
Doesn't seem to have that much appeal. I expect it to be as awesome as Arlovski v. Mir was a couple weeks ago. (Fight 10 years past their prime)
Stanford at USC also has much less appeal after Stanford's performance against N'Western.

ND and USC was epic in the 70's.

Yeah.
Virginia Tech vs. Miami in the late 90's-early 2000's was a big one too.

From the mid 70's thru the mid 80's the Pittsburgh vs. Penn St. game was about as good a rivalry as there was. Also Oklahoma vs. Nebraska was a huge game each year. I will also say that UCLA vs. USC has lost its place as a big time game.

I still love watching USC/UCLA just for the visual experience. The colors of both home jerseys, the Rose Bowl grass, the 80 degree weather when it's freezing balls everywhere else. It's pretty awesome.

I was really looking forward to the game in South Bend this year. ND players, however, are dropping like flies right now. Who knows how banged up they'll be by the time that game rolls around.

Big games I used to look forward to that seem to have lost their luster (or have just gone away):
Texas vs. OU
Texas vs. A&M
Ohio State vs. Michigan (may get better in a few years)
Nebraska vs. OU
Michigan vs. Notre Dame
Arkansas vs. Texas

Some points...
Texas-OU will return. That rivalry hit a dead spot in the late mid-'90's when OU sucked, and it's a bit dead right now because Texas sucks...But it's shown that it is often a premier game. It had some great moments in the 2000's, some in the '80's, '70's, and '60's.
Notre Dame-Stanford is played yearly, but it's not like it has routinely been a kick arse game. I don't recall many games that were hyped prior to Harbaugh.
Florida State-Miami will never reach the appeal it had during the late-'80's/early-'90's...partly because society shuns any players that have the flair that the players then had. As far as talent goes, it's sort of like Texas-OU where we haven't had two great teams on the field in a while.
You could go through any rivalry and find some stretches where they lose luster. But when old ones fade for a bit, others are restored.
LSU-Alabama is a marquee game, but do we really need to revisit when these teams had issues?

Their 2005 game was one of the most hyped regular season games I can ever remember.
