What do you mean when you say you "eat healthy?"

I see this thrown around a lot by people. People always say they eat fairly healthy or that they try to eat healthy. Do you count calories? Low carb? Low fat? Do you not eat much sugar or processed foods? What would a typical day of eating healthy consist of for you? I think lots of people don't understand you can eat fairly healthy foods and still gain weight.

I don't think I've ever uttered those words but when I decided to lose weight I know I am eating healthier by default. More fruit and vegetables.
Fewer donuts.
but also
Fewer donuts.

I have been for the last couple of months. I will have a low calorie protein shake in the morning. For lunch, I eat a big salad with various vegetables any minimal dressing and loaded with pepper. Mid afternoon, I have a snack of fruit or smoked salmon. For dinner I lean lean meat or seafood with a couple of steamed vegetables. Only water all day and I run 3 mile 4-5 times a week. I normally stay under 1650 calories and have lost 17 pounds since I started. 10 more to go

I've lost weight when counting calories and it helps me keep my portions in check (a bigger problem for me vs. actual food content). I try to not eat as much sugar and processed foods. Go for the fruit and veggies. Lean meats if possible.
As far as what it looks like in a day for me, I usually try to get good protein in the morning so that I feel fuller throughout the day. Some scrambled eggs with turkey sausage. That kind of thing. For lunch I usually go light with a salad. Dinner is usually a lean meat with veggies for my sides, maybe a roll (I love my bread), and something like sorbet for dessert. I try to keep a low cal granola bar, an apple, or something like that near my desk for a snack. My biggest hurdle is not wanting to eat my arse off when I get home from work around 3 pm and I usually try to keep some healthier snacks (i.e. fresh fruits and veggies) there for when I get home.
And stay the hell away from cokes, diet or otherwise.

Mouton, share what you think it means instead of sitting back and judging people.

Means nothing to me really
There are some things that are obviously bad for you but there are a lot of different eating philosophies that can be healthy.
A lot of differing opinions on what eating healthy actually means for sure
