I think they have electrical problems and airbag problems sometimes. Other than that, they are really nice and solid
My mom has a leaky airbag hose in her MB, and they want to replace most of the system for $2600

The Touareg is a VW not Audi.
Audi is to VW as Lexus is to Toyota and Infiniti is to Nissan. It's the same platform. So although there may be more bells and whistles, the drive train maintenance is going to be similar to a VW.
We have a VW TDI. Have not had a single issue other than my batter crapping out on me about two weeks ago. I've got 60k miles on it. I don't think they make them anymore, but I'd seriously consider getting the V10 TDI Touareg. Thing was a BEAST.
The cost of maintenance has been higher, but not a whole lot. My first service out of warranty was like $650. But that's only every 40k miles. The others are like $125. I've not had anything go wrong, so I can't speak to those costs.

My insight is you can't read....
Besides -- in Mississippi an '06 is practically new.
I still think she's overpaid.
But you didn't post pics, so I might be wrong on that, too.

They change transmission fluid (didn't want to do it, but also didn't want to give them a reason to void my drive train warranty), and pretty much every single thing is checked or changed other than the timing belt.

Only thing I know about them is a buddy's daughter had one and got hit by an 18 wheeler on I10 to the point you could not tell what type of vehicle it was and her and her kids all walked away without a scratch

i'm assuming you're talking about the VW... but kinda along the same lines as my buddy's wife basically got T boned on the front qtr panel and the kids didn't realize something happened.
