I had a good time when I went. Nice folks let me tailgate with them. Ate bbq at Dooley's, got coffee at strange brew, drank at bars, got cheese from their campus store. Everybody was nice.

I have been like 3-4 times but not since 2002. Fans are very nice and are great losers. Will annoy you of they win. Theyou used to have a very nice university golf course. It's not on campus but somewhere just outside of Starkville. It may be private but we had friends that could get us on. Worth a shot if you play golf. Other than that not much to do. I do remember they don't sell cold beer but do sell beer. So be prepared to ice it down.

Fanbase has taken a turn for the worse. Use to be one of the nicest in the SEC and a trip my group always made. This year its just two of us going after our 2013 experience.

Been to Auburn or Alabama lately? It's obsession level there. They can't say it fast enough. Humorless rednecks.

Campus, Gameday atmosphere, and night life has improved greatly over the past two years. All the LSU fans in here saying it isn't fun lack any personality whatsoever (It's an SEC college town...c'mon). Keep in mind, Bulldog Bash is this weekend as well and I would put it up against any SEC roadtrip. My favorite thing about Starkville is that you're going to meet and tailgate with a lot of solid people. The night life isn't as immature and trashy as Tigerland (Which I love every now and then ). You'll have a great time.

ETA: You'll be surprised at how unrealistic and far fetched our stereotypes go.

^^^ not true at all

You wouldn't even recognize Starkville if the last time you've been here was 2002

What you get out of Starkville depends on what your expectations are. If you are seeking a huge bar scene, you'll probably be disappointed. If you are looking for tailgaters who are friendly and will welcome you over to share their food, then you will not be disappointed. It's a unique place with more "salt of the earth" folks when compared with Tuscaloosa or Oxford.

I will try to add a serious response to this thread.

There are really no do's and dont's. I would say just keep your drink in a cup and you should be ok. The tailgating is night and day compared to lets say 5-10 years ago.

If you are looking for restaurant/bar recommendations, here are mine:

stromboli's for pizza get the chicken ranchero pizza or calzone

Do not fall for Little Dooey's BBQ, it is not that good.

Restaurant Tyler or the Veranda are my top two choices for food if it is your first time.

Bin 612 will be the bar you want to go to. The entire cotton district (bar area) will be PACKED this weekend due to having bulldog bash so you might just want to skip the bar.

The guest room is a speak easy type bar in the alley behind restaurant tyler that I highly recommend.

Personally, I think the location of the Junction makes it one of the best places to tailgate in the nation. How many universities can say that they tailgate 100 yards from the nearest stadium entrance.

Thanks, Civildawg. I'm not big on BBQ at Lil' Dooey's either, but the chicken-on-a-stick is killer good!

If you're ballsy, you'll walk down Colonel Muldrow St. and yell Tiger Bait.

Least favorite road trip. I went two years ago and the cops look for any sign to arrest you. They placed themselves on the stairs next to all the LSU fans (we sat lower level across from the LSU band next to the jumbotron) and were picking them out of the crowd to arrest. Saw a cop push one poor girl down the stairs and then arrest her when she got up and got in his face. I honestly think this is the worst place! Happy to check it off the list and say I will never go back.

We still have it. It is not private and usually very easy to get on. It is in the best shape i have ever seen it right now.

Good friend of mine goes to every game. Big moo st fan. When I asked him what's the best thing to do there, he said that their ice cream parlor is fantastic!

Pass.
