quote:

Cowboys OC, Tim Leger, said BeBe, who used to coach at McNeese, called him and said they won't see him on any film they study, but he wanted to warn them that Arden Key is THE BEST defensive lineman he has ever coached.

Coach O has coached some pretty damn good players! If this is true then WATCH OUT SEC!!!

Hope I don't get killed for asking this but isn't he still a little light? Read a thread a while ago that he has put on a little weight though.

Key has a rare trait that not many defensive linemen can be taugh. Arden understands how to use leverage and his feet to put offensive linemen on their heels. He also knows how to use speed and turn it into power. He probably developed it from playing at such a low weight with not a lot of packed muscle. It's a trait that guys like Leonard Williams had at USC. I think Key is a lot further along than we originally thought. He might take Bower's spot mid-season once he's been in the weight room some more. Our Leo position is in good hands.

Eta: I forgot to mention this originally but Key also has outstanding bend in his hips. He can turn on a dime and chase down anyone.

Eta2: Key also possesses a critical tool in a pass rushers arsenal: violent hands. His hands are very active in his pass rushing. If Orgeron can make his hands even more precise and coordinated he will only be that much better.

Coming from Coach O, that says a lot. Can't wait to see the Key to our D-line in action!

Not buying this. Why would O call and warn a coach he is about to face

Yet he has not played a single college snap and he is not even listed as a starter.

I think the guy may have all world potential but this quote just reeks of hyperbolic BS.

Seems like every pre season we hear this about someone who ultimately does jack shite once the season starts.

I was saying earlier today how right before fall practice, I thought he would be a pass rush specialist this year. Then the next few weeks happened.

He had pushed for the backup DE spot the first day of practice. I expect him to be the best freshman DE we have had since I don't know when. He's not just speed. When I watched the 2 All American high school games, he was IMO, one of the top 5 best players regardless of game.

Key reminds me of a Randy Gregory clone. He is 6'6" and lean, fast but not a burner, plays with great hand movement and punch that makes offensive linemen look silly. He will be the real deal.

I loath fantasy threads like this. It reminds me of the frank Herron is a beast stuff from last year.

Just where in the hell are all of you touting Keys speed, agility and hands getting this from ? High school film? Geez all of these "he reminds me of" speeches. You damn sure are not at the practices and if you are listening to coach speak well there is no help for you. Let the kid play and we can discuss his holy attributes at end of the season.
