I'll drive an hour to fish (2 if it's Venice) or 2 hours to hunt. Any further and I'm want to somewhere to sleep overnight and make it a whole day or weekend.

I'm not familiar with this metric but you want it high unless you're a duck hunter, right?

3 hours isn't out of the question at all. Have made a 5 hour one way trip to hunt a very special green timber spot in the MS delta before.

However as I have gotten a bit older I prefer to have time to settle in and relax and hunt/fish a few days rather than do fly by night hunts/fish. However my motto still remains have gun will travel.

Grew up 20 minutes from any saltwater fishing I could imagine doing. Never had to drive further. If I fished anywhere else, I stayed at a camp. No need for me to make the trip. Don't fresh water fish much, but have a good bit of that close as well, but I could see travelling to different lakes, etc..

I already have a tough time waking up to make a morning hunt, so I'm not making a drive. I've got to spend the night at a camp. Drinking and cooking at the camp are as important, if not more important, than hunting to me.

I really enjoy fishing. I like the "hunting experience".

Drove 2.5 hours on Chrimas eve morning to just make a morning hunt last year. I ended up killing my biggest buck ever, a 135.75" 6.5 year old 8 point. If the weather looks perfect, I'd do it again.

Depends. For hunting I only like to about an hour away at the most, but for fishing I don't mind ~2.5 hours drives.

Made the 2.5 hour trip to Grand Isle twice in the last month, came away empty handed both times. I don't mind the trip but damn I hope we catch the next time

I drive roughly 120 miles to the boat ramp, usually about 2 hours and 15 minutes. I don't mess around with evening fishing too often so I'm back in Baton Rouge for 3 or 4. So I'm off the water and in the car no later than 2. I average 4 trips a month, or 12k miles a year two and from the ramp. $2k/year just in fuel and launch fees and that's without a drop of gas in the boat or buying beer/drinks, food or anything else. My fishing budget is $600/month and that includes everything from fly tying material to boat/motor/trailer maintenance and insurance, as well as anything that involves running the boat. Very rarely is there ever a surplus.

During the fall the drive is a little shorter but the boat ride can be as long as an hour.

My bank account is looking forward to less fishing in the cooler months, or atleast fishing closer to home, I've fished something like 11 of the last 13 weekends, probably 8 of those being full weekend trips. Doing a kayak tournament this weekend then Labor Day weekend in Venice. After that I'll probably take a break and make a couple local trips to Cypremort Point.

I don't mind driving at all, 1-3 hours is my normal limit but I've driven Lafayette to Grand Isle and been there before sunrise several times this summer, so about 4 hours. I typically can't hardly sleep the night before fishing so it's not unusual for me to leave home at 10pm, drive to a launch, drink a few beers and catch a couple hours sleep in the truck.

Surprisingly, no. Been with the same girl for almost 4 years now. She's a nurse and is required to work every other weekend, it just so happened on the weekends she was off she had other commitments, family vacations or out of state weddings(that work kept me from attending), the couple times it worked out where she was free she came with me. She works this weekend so I figured I'd do the tournament, she's off next weekend so we're going to her families place in Venice.
