When they made landfall I don't think they were categorized tropical storms and not hurricanes
Gustav was Cat 2 at landfall
Isaac was Cat 1 (80mph)

This really should go in the "season long thread" but I think that it is anchored...
There are 3 Cat-4s around Hawaii this morning!

I like to surf. I live 5 mins from the beach out here but they can keep all the hurricanes on the Pacific side even though we got Fred brewing in the Atlantic.

Seems odd to use Fred when frederic is retired already

Fun fact: the only tropical storms to form further east than Fred are the 1900 Galveston hurricane, Ginger in 1967, and Unnamed in 1988.

Does the fact that it formed so far to the east lend itself to it being a strong storm and having bigger potential or does it make it more likely to run its course and dissipate or neither?

What's the projected path of this POS storm? Does anyone actually know?
I'll be in Destin next weekend.

Judging by that track regardless of strength I don't think there's any chance it can get to Destin by next weekend

Could this possibly affect the LSU home opener?

Honestly I'm not the guy to ask, I'm sure there's potential for it but it's a long ways out and just sheer odds make it unlikely

Not unless it buys itself a plane ticket.
