There is more to consider sometimes. I got a Vizio 4k tv because it wasn't much more expensive than the 1080p, and it had a much better color profile. So while I may not have much 4k content, other aspects of the picture are better than the 1080p model that wasn't much different in price at the time I purchased it.
I personally am not a big 4k believer yet, but I did get one. I'll be elated if we can get live football in actual 1080p.

I recently bought a Samsung 65" curved 4k tv from best buy for 2299.00 and love it. It has uhd upscaling so it makes 1080 look pretty damn good and colorful and screen is bright as hell. You can stream 4k on you tube and Netflix as of right now and Dish network is supposed to be workinng on a UHD capable DVR box where they will stream UHD content.

I've been told the NFL has been upgrading to 4K cameras and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Super Bowl in 4K this year.
