Tipping is out of control in America - can we abolish it?

Everyone needs to just stop tipping and we'd all be better off. Let the high-end restaurants simply pay more to attract the better waiters.
Tipping is incredibly inefficient and now days anyone who does anything for you as part of their job expects a tip. The guy who delivered my couch expected a tip. I overheard some girls talking about what shitty tippers people are at the to go counter. Wait, so you have to tip people just for buying stuff from them now?
Here are some links that support abolishing the custom of tipping.

My question is, would restaurants charge the same price for togo orders when it should be cheaper since they don't have to provide a worker to wait on you? I'm guessing people who get their items to go will simply subsidize the people who are dining in. Hell, I'd be okay with just flat percentage upcharge for those who dine-in. It's just that tipping in its current form has become a social obligation with increasing demands, and has little to do with performance.

Higher paid employees do not equal the best employees.
As it stands, people who are good servers will continue to work and be good at what they do, because they make good money doing it...from tips. Tips are (usually) a direct reflection of how good you are at that particular job.
On the other hand, shitty servers, won't make any money thus forcing them to find work elsewhere in another profession.
If you don't like to tip, then don't. I for one am okay with rewarding great service.
I don't want servers who make $7 an hour waiting on me. I want servers who understand their pay is based strictly on how well they perform their job.

Hourly/salary pay is Marxism / communism.
Where the value provided is based on the time spent, not the value to to buyers.
The labour theory of value is a piece of communistic shite and is wrong.
