Are people aware of a company trying to get permits for a toxic gas barge cleaning facility across from farr park on river road!!!!!!! This is really bad for this area so close to LSU campus. Probably just a few miles from a stadium full of people on a Saturday night. A public hearing will be at DEQ in Baton Rouge on Tuesday the 18th at 6pm. This does not need to be built so close to residential and a college campus.

Elaborate why?

I can't recall a barge cleaning facility exploding in the past decade. Sometimes I'm wrong.

It's all contained cleaning. Not like plants emitting shite. Get over it.

This facility is the size of a pimple on the arse of Exxon Mobil in Baton Rouge, which is the same distance from LSU campus and residential areas. Barges and ships travel up and down the river in this area full of hazardous cargo, all day every day, yet these local residents still chose to buy and live in this area. This situation is so blown out of proportion it drives me nuts.

And then there is the eagles nest. I've seen more bald eagles in my life working on the river at the refineries in Norco than I ever have anywhere else. This little facility is not going to ruin your bird watching.

Stop getting in the way of progress and job creation, bunch of tree huggers.

If it makes you piss your pants less, the guy that runs the Pt. Arthur facility and I will be in the South Endzone breathing in all of the pollutants. He's a huge fan.

Let's have a NIMBY off: Liberals who don't want a barge cleaning facility in BR in one corner, Conservatives who don't want an interstate loop to pass within 1 mile of their house in the other...ok, let's have a clean fight... GO!!

I'm surprised this hasn't been a bigger issue on here.

Why don't you sit in the old Alex Box parking lot one afternoon and watch how many railcars and tractor trailers full of chemicals pass by. THEN you will have something to worry about.

This was much ado about nothing. Nothing.
