Questions about Tailgating in Syracuse

Like many of you, I will be making my first trip up there this fall. What can I expect from the tailgate scene? What are the rules for drinking on and around campus? How early should I arrive?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Don't think there is a ton of space to tailgate at that venue.

I've always wondered if LSU athletics sends reps up to experience a game at a place like Syracuse before scheduling a home and home. Check out landscape and environment.

A penalty for an illegal block in the back.

This guy did a pretty good write up about football weekend experience in the city.
From the looks of it the stadium is on their campus, so there is plenty of space. I'm hoping it's an evening/night game (doubtful) so we can get a few hours of tailgating in. But I'll be out there early regardless.
I was wondering how shitty they get about drinking on campus, though.

Because it's a bigger game, I think there will be more people tailgating than usual on the syracuse side. People tend to spread out along the quad, in parking lots by the dome, etc.

I never had a problem with drinking on campus, don't make an arse out of yourself and you'll be fine.

This depends on where you want to park. If you're planning on parking and tailgating, I'd say get there at least a few hours early. If you are just coming for the game, park in the lot on south campus and take the shuttle bus over to campus.
Those are the quickest reponses I can give, if you want more in depth details take a look at that link Guava posted above.

Already reading through it and taking notes
I am very excited about this trip. That part of the country should be beautiful in early fall. Hopefully we get some nice weather!

I also just found out Syracuse is a private school. I always assumed it was a state school because of its size.

Yeah there were only about 12,000 undergrads when I was there, it might be up to 15,000 now. Not a huge school, but very happy to have gone there. It's a pretty big party school because what else are you gonna do when its snowing and/or freezing from November-March .
Fall is the perfect time to head up there. The drive along the PA northeast extension and I-81 from Philly- Scranton- Binghamton- Syracuse is one of the nicest I've ever seen. So many different tree colors it's really quite the site compared to the fall foliage of Louisiana

You mean the 48 hours from when they are on the tree to on the ground?

Did I hear correctly that the Carrier Dome sells beer?
Posted on 8/11/15 at 11:04 am to TigerNE
Yes they do. Should be a great time!

Thanks for the confirmation on the beer sales.
My buzz and the beatdown will go on and on and on and on ...

That's exactly my point
Yeah the dome sells beer until either the beginning or middle of the 3rd. It'll be a good time

Ill be driving up from Honesdale, Pa which is about 45 minutes northeast of Scranton. The last LSU game I attended was in West Virginia. It was nice to see the players get off the bus and go into the stadium with a small crowd of LSU fans. I'm looking forward to a similar experience at Syracuse - hoping to find times and location for all of that pre-game stuff as I just sort of happened upon it in West Virginia.

I'm pretty surprised at the number of LSU fans who are going. We're driving across from Boston that Friday afternoon.
Gonna be a great time.

Im betting its West Virginia 2.0 on beer sales. The LSU game alone accounted for 23% of West Virginia's beer sales for the 2011 season.

Because I was in the band at syracuse, I know that the entrance for the players into the dome is through stadium control. Stadium control is right under I think it's gate B/the box office, across the street from Sadler Hall (Intersection of E Raynor Ave and Forestry Drive). I'm not sure how early the players will get there, but you can easily walk around there especially if you park in one of the lots down Raynor. As a warning, there's a pretty nasty hill going up Forestry Dr. to get up to the quad.
ETA: Here's stadium control. It's where that garage door is. The quad is on the opposite corner of stadium control
