Which is an option afforded to lots of people on trial, even murderers. You have a problem with that?

This board is schizophrenic sometimes.

It's his new troll schtick. Tangerine created his account to post as a USC football fan and troll LSU fans about the 2003 BCS championship. Even his username is a lame dig at LSU being invited to the Tangerine Bowl in lieu of a better bowl game.
He went away for a couple of years when USC fell into obscurity but appears to be back with a new troll persona - Social Justice Troll. Others already play this role so he's late to the game. At least some of his new threads have some interesting articles.

well, he is serving 4 years on manslaughter, so I am good with that....
Are you fricking kidding me?? So you're fine with murderers getting four years? This is exactly why LEO's murder people. It's four years at the most and that's in the very rare instances that they actually get charged. I'm pretty sure you'd feel completely different if the victim was one of your children or relatives. Considering that he murdered someone in their own home in cold blood then conspired to cover the murder up, the rogue LEO should serve life in prison without the possibility of parole. The other LEO's that lied for him should be the ones doing four years.

Well it wasn't a good cover up the cop that did the killing went to jail. Doesn't even sound like a cover up if you gotta go to jail. Definition of a cover up is to get out of going to jail. Why the whining? The people who found these discrepancies I'm sure are above board and totally unbiased right? Office of independent police monitor. Yes sounds legit,oh, and look its a very liberal California lawyer that is head of the new Orleans office of independent police monitor. Oh right, totally unbiased. A California lawyer who worked for the LAPD. Such a great job she did cleaning up there.
So lets not kid ourselves and say there isn't biased reports from both sides. When there's 2 sides to a story the truth, is usually in the middle. Cover ups and blantant falsehoods from both side, I'm sure, were in both reports.

Drama much? You act like the cop went in there guns a'blazing with intent to kill everyone. Sounds like it was a terrible mistake. I'm fine with the sentence he got for a non premeditated murder. At least he got a sentence. Even saved us money by not going to trial.

Oh okay well maybe I need to read the entire article. I doubt he was doing zero wrong and had the cops break his door down and shoot him. I have never and will never have the cops break my door down I can guarantee you that cause I don't do bad shite.
Unless they mean to knock on your neighbor's door (or kick it in) because they're not very fricking smart.
Then, you blast them coming through the door because they didn't announce themselves.
Most likely, they gun down you and anyone near by.
If you survive, they'll ensure you're charged with homicide despite the negligence of the police.

A terrible mistake that would have gotten anyone else much more than 4 years. Wouldn't even surprise me if they planted the weed in the house.

You would be wrong and an a-hole. It's good to know what you're talking about before mocking the death of a seemingly innocent kid.

News reported this morning that the cop is petitioning to have his sentence reduced.
(I THINK) the slain boy's family supports the petition to reduce sentence. Seems like the ex-cop has met with the family and is really distressed by the accident. I hope that is true.
ETA: I did find this:

quote:
"This is not about former NOPD officer Joshua Colclough," Burns said. Colclough "was merely a leaf that came from the tree (and) that was placed in the Department of Corrections. What we're interested in now is the officers that are still on the New Orleans Police force."
Burns would not say whether Allen's family members would speak in favor of shortening Cloclough's sentence.
"At some point prosecution ends and it merely become persecution," Burns said of Colclough's sentence. "We wish (Colclough) all the luck in the world.

You seem a little too close to this story to have any rational conversation.
I'm one of those guys who thinks the majority of police officers are good people, but you make it hard to prove my point when the "good" guys try to excuse every bad decision ever made by another officer. It is perfectly okay to criticize people in the same profession as you, and most of the time it is warranted. Defending them from public criticism is what causes people to lose faith in the entire profession.

So let me get this straight....if cops illegally enter your home tonight and murder you or one of your family members you are totally ok with them only serving four years?? Anyone who answers that with a yes is completely full of shite. You know damn well you would want them to serve more time if this was one of your children. Not at all surprising that cop showed up in this thread to defend the actions of rogue cops. It's what cops do.
