Would cops be less trigger happy if guns were outlawed?

If less people had them I feel like the cops would less likely be on edge.

They would start assuming that you are reaching for your wallet in your pants instead of a gun.

Why? Most of the ppl that shoot/kill cops do so with illegally obtained guns to begin with. Banning them wouldn't change that in the least.

You're only disarming people that follow rules.

Hey, let's outlaw murder, then there wouldn't be anymore murders. It's brilliant.

Criminals would still have guns and the problem would still exist.

Australia saw a 69% increase in violent crimes after their ban, and a 7% decrease in gun murders ({after banning 100% of handguns).

Britain's murder rates went up for a few years before leveling off to what they were before their gun ban, and their violent crimes went way up.

And they don't have nearly the thugs we do. If you want to see the US balkanized and thrown into civil war, by all means, ban guns.

That's like saying drugs are illegal so cops don't expect drugs when searching certain people.
