Upgrade Elibible at AT&T, what should I do?

My 2 year contract is up this week, trying to decide what to do. I've kept a 2 year contract going because I have unlimited data, even though I don't use that much overall. However, my company pays me for my phone bill, so I'm really only paying for one other phone. Monthly cost is about $150.
Not too excited about the phones they have now. I have a Note 4 and the wife has a Galaxy S5 active. They are in good shape, trying to decide if I should sit for a while and wait for a new wave of phones, or go ahead and reup for 2 years or switch to Next, or see what their retention group might offer if I threaten to leave.
Advice?

Personally I have always wanted an Active. Been on verizon and could not get one. When contract expires 8/15 going to check out ATT and see about an S6 Active.

I am eligible for an upgrade as well. I have a Galaxy S4 still running strong so I see no reason for me to upgrade. For my needs/wants, I find it easier nowadays to go past 2 years with the same phone as the jumps in tech don't appear to be as great as they were in the late 2000s.

Same here. The only reason I'm going to upgrade next month is because my wife drowned her iPhone 5C after just a few months, and has been using a 4S for a while now. I'm either going to upgrade mine and give her the 5C, or upgrade both and let my daughter use the 5C as an ipod. I do like the larger screens on the newer phones as well. Mainly, I just need more storage.

The note 4 came out last October, it hasn't even been a year, how could you be eligible for a new 2 year upgrade if you don't currently have next?

Did you consider switching to Spring and cutting your bill in half?

I didn't get my note 4 via AT&T, I bought it for $400 on Craigslist at Christmas, so it didn't affect my upgrade with AT&T. I wanted to try the Note 4, I like it, but I really don't use it for the specific features the Note has.

I don't play the lottery, but I did pay cash. OT ballers don't include Donald Trump in their club, so I don't fit there either.

I upgraded about a month ago and did everything online. Tried calling the 1-800 number and they told me I had to do the NEXT plan. I have the unlimited data and didn't want to lose it. After talking with several people on the phone I finally had an honest guy tell me the only way to upgrade keeping your unlimited data is to do it online. I went with the S6 Active and love it so far.

The HTC One M9 is an outstanding device. Not sure if AT&T offers it.

I was under the impression I could still keep my unlimited with ATT if I upgrade (have done so twice before). Is this no longer the case?

Yammie did you consider the sprint deal?

Keep your phone. Add a new Surface 3 tablet with 4G LTE. They just started carrying.

Edited: Nevermind, missed the part about the unlimited plan.
Honestly, if you keep your phones, just move to a month to month plan and pick a data bucket. It's not that expensive and not that prohibitive. Then you'll get a line discount for being out of the contract (phone subsidy) period.
Unless you're an extremely heavy data user, I expect you'll find it's not that bad of a deal.

Is this new? I upgraded last fall from an iPhone to an S5 and still have my unlimited data.
