I believe some of the things he says and does are to get a reaction, to take the focus off of the team and put it soley on himself.
If you've ever talked with Les he comes off as an intelligent guy, but a lot of folks seem to think he is one dumb mofo. Yet he graduated from University of Michigan with a degree in economics.

I personally think he reads the rant and gets a kick out of some things written on here.

Les doesn't read the Rant, turducken. He doesn't care what goes on outside the perimeter of his building.

I never bought the Les as Columbo thing. I've seen and listened to him in many different settings aside from media functions and from what I've experienced....he is what everyone sees.

You can't quibble with his record and what he's accomplished but I do think some tend to stretch reality in affording him the calculating clandestine genius status.

People who are really clever do not have to try so hard to look clever...let that sink in for a minute.

I heard him speak at a non-football related function and was pleasantly surprised at how well he did.

Les Miles is not dumb. He just comes off as dumb. Probably because he speaks in paradoxes and it takes 3 rereads until you come to a conclusion of what he is trying to say.

Dude is crazy like a fox. Y'all can bash him all you want, but you can't be this successful for this long and be an idiot. With recruiting going the way its going and the staff that is in place, Miles has LSU rolling.

And yes, I think he trolls the fans a bit. he knows his criticisms, yet he also believes in what he is doing because it has been successful. He takes small delight in giving the fans something to get riled up over every now and then.

Fwiw I've hung out with LM twice at a coaches clinic.
No, he does not come across as an intelligent guy.
Just my experience.
Maybe he was having a bad day.

Sean Peyton comes across as an intelligent man.
He was there too.
