OT workout warriors: Anyone have experience with Progenex?

My brother (yes he's a crossfitter) keeps trying to get me to use their more muscle supplement. The problem is its highly priced and I feel like this could be one of those things that gets marketed really well to the crossfitters so they eat it up.

From what I have read it just sounds like an overpriced protein poweder. Protein powder is not going to yield measurable results over a balanced whole foods diet. It is basically a convenient food substitute.

I think it's a crossfit racket. They market hard to crossfitters. It is a high quality protein but I don't think it is any different than the other high quality ones that are out there for a cheaper price.

Was going to inquire about this myself.
And GenF20 Plus.

I bought a bag to try and it's expensive but it does mix well with water and taste really good. I'm currently using more muscle cookies and cream.

Is this just a testosterone booster? First time hearing of that.

A hydrolyzed whey with some bcaa powder in it at $70 for 30 servings is unnecessarily pricey.

I agree. I use Optimum Nutrition which is 1/4 of the price and also some good amino's.

So in reading more about the Progenex it appears it used to be legit however the stuff sold now is no longer the same formula. The old stuff is now ascend elite recovery. Which looks impossible to get here

They've had at all 3 boxes I've been a part of over the last couple years. Heard good things from the coaches about it but never tried it myself, way to pricey.
Here's the winner, a few months ago on reddit's Crossfit page I came across an article about Progenex getting sued for false advertisement of there product. They claimed a bunch of different stuff on their bottles but none of it was real. Lacked many ingredients noted on the bottles as well as the protein was way off from what was on the bottle.
Go to labdoor.com or .net. And check their tests on different protein powders.
Edit: I have been using a brand called MyProtein. Best value on labdoor and its close to the same price on bb.com as optimum. It's nice cause it advertises 18 grams a scoop and it actually delivers 16-17 grams of whole protein and not just filler garbage protein like many other companies. That was the main reason musclepharm got sued out the arse because they were delivering only like 20% or less whole protein in their products, stuff was just filled with leucine.

I have used Progenex for a few years now and can say its the best I have ever tried. I will echo what everybody else has said though...its expensive. Wish it was cheaper. Overall, its probably worth it if you train hard and need something to recover. If you just work out to stay in shape or be healthy, then its probably not worth it then.

I honestly do not get it when people say this. Protein powders will not yield measurable results. It is a food replacement. The only noticeable difference between reputable products is taste and mixability.

i wouldn't say its a food replacement more of a supplement to your current diet. To get the additional protein in your body to aid in muscle growth. Its unbelievable hard to eat 200+ grams of protein in whole foods day in and day out.
But protein powders are not one of the things that you get what you pay for. as you said just find you one that you like the taste and the price and roll with it.
Optimum nutrition has been rock solid for me for 20+ years.

the guy created an account just to post that, he obviously has some stake in the brand in some form

Sooo...a food replacement?

Not really. I often eat a salad with a can of chicken for lunch. The chicken is 270 calories and 54 grams of protein. Not what I would consider to be a heavy meal.

lol no stake in the brand or have any affiliation with the company. In fact, my only interaction with the company was at a Crossfit event about a year ago and I thought the people working at the company were kinda d-bags. I almost stopped taking the Recovery product because of it, but I have tried over a dozen protein sups for recovery and none of worked as well. The only product I have ever tried from them is the Recovery, and I would never pay the high price for their other products.
