I bet it is thrilling to ride out in a Land Rover, see a lion basking in the sun, then pull out a rifle and shoot it. Life just doesn't get any better than that.
Yea. Seems like a huge adrenaline rush....huge.

Redneck, you need me know by the end of the hunting season in September. I'll need to add you to the hunting list with the outfitter.
This will be a once in a lifetime hunt for me. I went to South Africa in May but that was only for plains game.

Do we know for sure that the hunter knew about the illegal practices going on with the guide? I wouldn't think he was aware.
He's already spent a year on probation for improperly hunting a bear. If he's not acquainting himself with the regs then he's pretty reckless. And it's not some arcane rule that he broke. If it's punishable by 5 years in an African prison to kill a collared animal, you dang sure check for a collar before you shoot it.
I still think more blame lies with the guide. No way he didn't know what he was doing.

Pussy. You show yourself killing a threatened species but hide your face. Telling.
Post one of you hugging a tree.

like I said, 18 hour stalk hunt.
And yes, being 50 yds away from a huge cat that could slice you into 10 pieces in 1 second is a huge rush.

Did the guide have to help you lift the rifle with those boyish shoulders of yours?
Posted on 7/28/15 at 11:11 am to CP3
you're talking to a guy whose biggest African thrill was blowing a vuvuzela 6 years ago
Posted on 7/28/15 at 11:12 am to thesoccerfanjax
nah. I was pretty wiped after though. Slept a solid 16 hours straight that night.
Talk about being physically and emotionally drained.

If you post that one pic, this board would lose it.

It was an illegal hunt
Sounds like the hunter wasn't aware of it and the fault is on the guide service

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. I mean, aren't you a cop?

I have a lion hunt scheduled in Botswana for July 2019. We are going to do a fair chase baiting hunt, I'm going to use a 375 H&H which is the minimum caliber required for a dangerous game hunt in Botswana. I'm looking forward to it.

You idiots are way too emotional over a stupid lion.
Translation: I don't read and do not understand the ecosystem and what a threatened species means. Lastly, I will act flamboyant in an attempt to hide my ignorance towards the subject.

King Ranch
We went to Okavango Delta of Botswana.
Highly recommend that area
Edit - damn I didn't see that that's where you were planning to go. Good choice.

I don't feel sorry for the dentist. He obviously makes a lot of money to afford these hunting trips and he's a dentist. He'll always be able to find work until he retires and I am sure there are enough right-wingers out there who'll seek out his practice in support of him.
But as someone who grew up fishing and hunting I don't get hunting to just kill an animal for a trophy on the wall. In my family we never saved the entire head. We just saved the antlers for mounting. I don't get the satisfaction of having dead animals looking at you in your home.
