13 years old when I first heard the song Black Celebration by Depeche Mode from the album of the same name. Thought it was fricking weird as hell but i couldn't get it out of my head. Been my favorite band ever since.

Hush - Deep Purple I was 9 years old, and I was talking with the teenager who lived next door while he was washing his car. This song came on, and he turned up the volume on his transistor radio. Became a fan right then.

The beginning of Apocolypse Now is when I first remember hearing The End by the doors.

"Albatross" by Corrosion of Conformity.

I've been hooked ever since. The Pepper Keenan-fronted CoC literally hasn't recorded a single weak song.

The band that was my favorite band in high school/college:
"Cute Without the 'E' (Cut From the Team)" - Taking Back Sunday
And the band that became my favorite band when I got a little older:
"Here at the Starlite" - Lucero

This almost happened to me.
And I repeat a story from one of my friends who is a professional guitar player (at least part time) - he was just out of high school when he first heard the song - he was already gigging at this time - he said he was so distracted he had to pull the car over and listen. That's a pretty significant endorsement of how different the guitars sounded in that song.
I have a SRD Rockman portable guitar amplifier to help replicate that sound.

Either "Tractor Rape Chain" or "Echoes Myron" from Guided By Voices. Really the whole Bee Thousand album hooked the shite outta me.

I don't have 1 favorite band, but the following are my alltime favorites in no particular order:
Sober - Tool
Theives - Ministry
The Only Time - NIN
Coast to Coast - Jesus and Mary Chain
Steam Engine - My Morning Jacket
Drown - Smashing Pumpkins
Dogs - Pink Floyd (I liked them prior to this due to their radio play. My dad, a massive fan, put Animals on for me as a kid, and this song won me over completely. Still my favorite Floyd song to this day.)
