Oregon allowing 15 year olds to get state subsidized sex change operation

Wow really?

The list of things 15-year-olds are not legally allowed to do in Oregon is long: Drive, smoke, donate blood, get a tattoo -- even go to a tanning bed.
But, under a first-in-the-nation policy quietly enacted in January that many parents are only now finding out about, 15-year-olds are now allowed to get a sex-change operation. Many residents are stunned to learn they can do it without parental notification -- and the state will even pay for it through its Medicaid program, the Oregon Health Plan.

Better give them a line of credit too, because I do not see too many sane parents paying for that crap. Everybody has some odd teenage years, but butchering yourself before truly figuring it out is hardly an answer.

Whoever wrote that law should get the operation done so they can go frick themselves.

This is kinda scary.
I pretty much disagree with everything 15 y/o me did.

That sucks for the taxpayers. They have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars for one surgery that will only be enjoyed by the recipient for less than 10 years before they inevitably kill themselves.

The standalone Florida board just wasn't happening, but I think a Florida/Oregon board just might work.

Exactly. People love to fear monger that tons of teens are going to run out and have this operation.

So you can't get a tattoo but you can lob your dick off? Makes sense.

How much is it supposed to cost? Because I'd be pissed as a taxpayer in Oregon and demand I get that much back. I'm not for mutilation.

That wasn't the point of that line.

Well that is just lovely. Also, it should say taxpayer subsidized.
