And as another poster mentioned, I was really hoping that the little Giants dude was going to reveal what McAdams did in the bedroom when she pulled him aside in her office.

Coukld be. My theory is she stuck a finger up his arse and he didn't like it.

I also would not like that.

That's pretty commonplace. At least at some point.

Would think it was something beyond that honestly. Guess we'll never know.

Methinks it has something to do with all those knives that she carries around in case she has a to cut someone bigger than her. May be a little knife fetish thing going on there.

I'm pretty confident that people set the bar way to high for this season. If this was Season 1 of True Detective, I think most would enjoy it.

This season has two problems:

1A Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch want to be McConaughey, but they aren't.

1B Most viewers want Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch to be McConaughey, but they aren't.

If you can get past that, this season has been good enough. Nothing groundbreaking, but entertaining enough for me on a Sunday evening.

probably true enough. it's not season one, but i'm interested enough to keep watching.

sidenote: contrary to some opinion, i like mcadams tarted up with that haircut and attitude.

I'm going to see this thing through. But I'm honestly not enjoying it so far. And save me the "well stop watching it" shite, people. I want to watch it and that's what I'll do. But man, they're making it tough. Might be my own fault, but I have to go read about each episode to really figure out what's going on. There is just so much shite going on that doesn't seem to advance the story.
Same here. Each of the last 2 episodes have been decidedly worse than the one before IMO.

And the Vince Vaughn fight scene, seems like they didn't even try to make it look convincing, so bad and not believable at all.

The scene at the mayors house was probably the low point of the whole show, the characters, writing, execution was awful.
Yes, forgot about that too.

I was laughing at how bad it was.

I'm very surprised reading through this thread, seeing quite a few folks, probably the majority stating it was the best episode so far. I think it was by far and away the worst of the 11 True Detective episodes. If it were on a graph, it would be that crazy outlier you barely notice because of how far below the other points are. That bad, for me.

Wouldn't be surprised if this series gets the axe
Episodes 1 and 2 were the 2nd and 3rd highest rated shows of this series, only behind the season 1 finale.

the whole fight sequence was bad. VV's bodyguard just hands him a pair of pliers out of nowhere? The fat dude owned that club and was talking shite to VV and his men, you would think he would have his own security staff there to back him up.
This confused me, I thought all those guys with the fat dude were part of his team, no?

I get letting them fight it out even if VV is winning the fight. But, if that's his team, I don't get why they'd stand around and watch while VV pulls his teeth out.

Few things:

This season has caused me to really look back at last season and question how good it really was. The acting was outstanding and the way the setting was incorporated was some of the best i've ever seen. But, was the plot, specifically the ending all that good? I rewatched the finale the other day with my father in law and again just wasn't impressed. He was wrapping up a binge watch and the finale just didn't stand up like the rest of the season did for him either.

I really like Vince Vaughn in this role. He's not perfect, but I would love to see him in some more similar roles. First time he caught my attention was in Psycho, so he's always had a very sinister undertone to me.

Feels like they took the dark stuff that was so good about season 1 and are just trying WAY, WAY too hard with it this time around.

I'm not throwing in the towel, I think there is a lot of potential for good quality still, but it better pick up. I had this same feeling about the final season of Dexter.

The big dude certainly wasn't treating him like the boss. I'd assume the followers of the big guy would feel the same, but maybe not I guess.

well VV's men all pulled out guns on them so they wouldn't intervene...

I must have missed that. I'd think the other, bigger group woulda had guns as well, but that probably explains it.

VV asked if he was speaking for everyone and no one spoke up.

He obviously still holds some clout with some of them..

Yeah, my impression was they all were tied by some type of stripper ring, but operated their own clubs. So associates, yes, but not "with the other guy". VV's guys did pull guns on them though.
