What the hell do you do there? Is it something O&G related? Jesus, I'd have to get paid a TON to work there.
You get paid a lot more than a ton to work in the third world.
I'd kill for a position around singapore.

You do. I think I'd get my salary plus a 70% bonus. Still, even at over 200k a year and working 35 days on, 35 days back home doing nothing, I don't think I could ever do it.

Another reason I couldn't do it. I have an office job, but our offshore guys don't have a set schedule. They catch jobs as they come up (service company). When we got really busy and were understaffed with experienced guys, it was a nightmare for some. I went on a training job with a guy about 5 years older than me. He had a 3 month old. He had only been home for 3 full days since she was born. He'd come in for a night every now and again, but was off on his next job the next day. He quit soon after that. That pretty much solidified me never working offshore for my current company at least.

I commissioned a couple of platforms off of the coast of Gabon last year. 6 weeks, and every week there was some new threat of Ebola shutting down the boarders of the US.
frick that. Never again. Good luck and hurry home.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Y'all have cool jobs. I'm pretty jealous.

Ya, I wouldn't particularly mind a 3rd world country for a little while for that dough. I find it interesting.
Of course if you don't get to leave and check out countries near by that would be a drag.

How's the food?
French cuisine where I am. I bought some fresh blue crabs and boiled them up last weekend. They are nearly double the size of the crabs in LA. The pincers are more than twice the size.

I couldn't make near what I make here back in the US doing the same job. Maybe half. Also have to factor in that I don't pay for a car, house, utilities, or US taxes. Vacation flights are free as well. It's a good job if you're single.

DS Management
I know at least one person on your project. Ex-Addax (P.H.)
What type of work are you doing for them?

I'm considering a trip to Sao Tomea and Principe this year. It looks pretty nice.

That does look cool.
I'd be interested in visiting there. Also Zanzibar,Diani, or of course Seychelles if I was over there.
