Anyone working in Africa?

Im back over here in the hell hole that is west africa. Beside the smell, the +6 hours time difference has to be the hardest thing to get used too

I may be going to Angola in Oct. Brazil is nice to work in and travel is very good but I am tired of Petrobras.

It's much better than being laid off which is the prevalent alternative in the US right now.
ETA - For offshore workers there isn't a ton of difference. The worst rig I ever worked on was in the GOM.

Yeah I understand bills need to be paid but I'm not leaving my family for a month at a time

I can understand that. I know people who are the same. I don't have family to leave so it's great for me.
I loved it as a kid as well. Had an Uncle who worked 28/28. We did a lot of fishing/hunting together when he was home.

Being away does suck. I work 28/14 right now with a 10 month old son. Watching him grow up through pictures on Facebook that my wife sends me. Dont plan on doing this forever.

I'm off for 14 days right now and I've drank every day since I got home and I'm about to catch a flight to New York for a couple days. So I don't mind it at all. No family though
