Got one in at the store today. Feels like a 20ga and points like a wand. Great controls and a cool, unique design.
I already called King Ranch, so yall better hurry if yall want to see it

What exactly is the huge appeal of OU shotguns? Nostalgia, or the ability to run two different choke sizes?

MSRP was reported to be $3000

It is receiving some mixed reception in the sporting clay world that I hang around in. Supposedly a couple of the guys that shoot some very high end guns have demoed them and say they run good for the money but said they wouldn't buy.
Is that the case it comes in?

Chokes and if you have the right gun they are much better made than semi-autos and when you are talking about guys who are running thousands of rounds a year through them that matters.

I was gonna call you and ask how the community was liking them

Also I have heard some complaints of the shorter barrels.

I feel like they will be great sporting guns however if they want into the sporting clays market they will need 30 and 32 inch barrels.
I ended up buying a silver pigeon by the way. I am going to run it for a year and get a DT11.

30" and 32" are on the way, as well as 20ga and 28ga. they'll probably roll them out steadily over the next few years

Looks hidious. Why would they go away from a traditional o/u look?
Looks cheaply made.

What about guys that run tens of thousands of rounds through autoloaders each year like I do?
XLR5's, 391's, SuperSports, etc. etc. are easily manufactured to run a million plus rounds through them.
Concerning the 828U, it is far from a sporting gun. Way too light. Barrels are too short. Not a good combination for high volume clays. Excellent field gun dimensions though.
