A staff of mostly Fresh/Sophomores. Injured top recruit. Transferred top recruit.

I'd say with those circumstances going to Omaha is pretty impressive. Apparently the voters for the Skip Bertman Award agree.

It's the non-profit College Baseball HOF in Texas that is currently about $4mill short on a new building they want. People and even institutions can 'donate' for a 'membership' which basically gets your name on the website... they have a certain interest in putting themselves in the forefront of the minds of a fan base well-known for monetarily supporting baseball well beyond any other school in the nation...

How does he get credit for digging himself out of circumstances he created? He could have recruited pitchers prior to Poche's class.

Sure. But once he got there?

Game 1: Left Poche in far too long after he made his throwing errors. Pretty damn obvious he was horribly rattled after that.

Game 2: Lange bailed him out from having to make any decisions.

Game 3: Starts Person. Leaves him in too long when it's apparent his curve isn't working. Pulls Newman quick when he's dealing; same for Norman. Puts Godfrey in a pressure situation when he's struggled all year with those. Same for Stallings.

His pitching changes backfire far too often. Its become a trend. Same as the hitting has been for the last four years during the post season. Great for him he's racking up those awards; can't expect to win every year, but should expect not to get embarrassed in the post season. That's been another disturbing trend.

As ell said. Avoided both vandy and UF and had a horrific OOC schedule. Just making it to Omaha was definitely achievable and almost expected, especially with this roster.

If he can do that with next years team then that is certainly impressive.
