Whats the point of having the hood popped?

It equalizes the pressure between the engine compartment and the outside, thus causing the truck to be retrieved easier.

I thought the same thing. I figured they were signaling the Coast Guard-kind of like popping your hood when you break down on the side of the highway.

like the hood is sealed. It's the suction on the undercarriage.

Stick a tire into sand underwater and try and pull it out, or your hand for that matter. If that doesn't convince you, stick your head in it.

First attempt failed. Broke tow strap, but it's all good. The Dodge Durango has come in to save the day

Oh-I know. Been there. It's like a suction cup. I thought you were being sarcastic and meant the hood popped had something to do with it. I didn't figure you took my post seriously.

Is it just me or does that look like that truck has about 27" tires on it?

Itll be there until they get some heavy equipment out there. He's about to be SOL, tide starts rising again at 8pm, and tomorrow's high tide at 8am looks higher than today's.
