Raise your hand if you can get married in Louisiana. Not so fast, gays.

There are a lot of things he should let go if he cares at all about his presidential run, but he won't, and that's why he doesn't stand a chance.

Jindal has turned into such a bitch..

Prudent thing to do is wait, but it will ultimately prove fruitless.

Louisiana clerks: Wait 25 days to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples
I mean the law was passed a few hours ago. Should we expect every state to already have new regulations in place? It says in the article that they will have to make changes to the conventional marriage licenses... it makes sense that they would need a little time to get everything in order before they just start handing shite out.

quote:To get elected he has to get nominated, and to do that, he has to do something to gain visibility in primary/caucus states. His chosen avenue is going after evangelical voters, who are strong in Iowa. So I expect him to go after this like a dog goes after a bone. He doesn't have a prayer, (SWIDT?) but that's what he'll do. Maybe pick a high profile fight with the feds like George Wallace standing in the schoolhouse door over desegregation. Won't work and will give Louisiana a black eye, but when did he ever care about this state. It'll accomplish what he wants-getting in front of the camera and get the pundits talking about him.
if jindals cares at all about his presidential run, he'd let this one go.

Governor Jindal said, “The Supreme Court decision today conveniently and not surprisingly follows public opinion polls, and tramples on states’ rights that were once protected by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that.
Well we aren’t. They still aren’t going to be married in churches that don’t want them. This is about the LEGAL definition of marriage, not the religious one.
quote:
This decision will pave the way for an all out assault against the religious freedom rights of Christians who disagree with this decision. This ruling must not be used as pretext by Washington to erode our right to religious liberty.
What liberty was assaulted? How in any way did this negatively affect the rights of anyone or anything?
quote:
The government should not force those who have sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage to participate in these ceremonies. That would be a clear violation of America’s long held commitment to religious liberty as protected in the First Amendment.
Who is forcing anyone to “participate in these ceremonies”? What the frick is he talking about?
quote:
I will never stop fighting for religious liberty and I hope our leaders in D.C. join me.”
His political career is fricking done.

There are so many dumb things in here its hard to understand how he was elected to a position of such power.
Because when he was running he presented himself as a nearly non-partisan guy who didn't care about ideology, he just wanted to fix the state. Turns out he didn't believe in that any more he believes in the fundy bullshite he's spouting now. He just wants to get to the next level, and when he does that, he starts looking around for whatever will get him to the level after that. God knows what he would do if he was actually elected president. I doubt he's given it any thought himself. He just wants to get there, because his pathologically massive ego demands it.

The belief is that by forcing people to obtain the same marriage license as homosexuals the government is forcing people to agree that they are on equal ground. Basically making them ignore their religious beliefs and accept there is no sin for the homosexual couples by having them apply for the same license.
Probably didn't do a good job of explaining it.

So there was no such thing as marriage before Christianity?
He won't be back in Louisiana for a couple of weeks anyway.

Well most people get a marriage license at the court house and get married in a church or by a priest. This only says gay people can do the former.
Which is more important to Christians?
