Well I understand the 25dsys, there's no point in issuing a license if an appeal can be filed and the whole thing overturned and now you have a defunct marriage license. Now if they were delaying the licenses just bc they're gay that would be a different story.

The belief is that by forcing people to obtain the same marriage license as homosexuals the government is forcing people to agree that they are on equal ground.

Because they are.

Sin is a human label slapped on things by Bronze Age man in order to maintain power and control over the masses.

A judge married me. Was my marriage not as good as a church marriage? The Pope is about to Annul it. Can I get all my money back?

What liberty was assaulted? How in any way did this negatively affect the rights of anyone or anything?

The people used to have a right to self governance and to duly pass the laws that govern how their state defines marriage. That liberty was taken away today. States used to have the right to govern the health, safety, welfare, and morals of their citizens without the federal government's ability to intervene. That right was significantly curtailed today. The federal government used to be a limited government whose function was constrained to the specifically enumerated powers in the constitution. The Supreme Court today largely expanded its power under Article III.

You can be happy that you got the result you wanted, but I would caution you to assume that today's decision did no violence to the political process in America. It did pretty extensive damage to our federal system. The whole-cloth creation of a fundamental right within the meaning of "liberty" as used in the 14th Amendment should concern you, not necessarily with this decision, but for the future decision that you will not agree with. Also, note, when you don't like that decision down the road, you can't vote on it because enshrining it in the constitution takes it beyond the reach of the electorate.

Yep. Literally just a couple of days after he announces his run as President, he has already taken a hit on it. He is a fricking a-hole.

In the church's eyes, it was not as good. However, they still recognize the marriage, hence another issue they have with this process.

Can't the validity of the marriage be called in to questions.

Honestly, the government made the wrong move today. They should remove themselves from the business of marriage all together.

States lost that right on January 1, 1863.

Probably his best quote of the day, for so many reasons. I mean the logic is infallible.
