I dont't see it yet. We had a much better season the year preceding 2011. In 2010, we went 11-2 and crushed A&M in the Cotton Bowl with a team made up almost entirely of freshman and sophomores. It was quite evident to me that 2011 was going to be very special. 2014 did not give me the same vibe. I'm not going to get too excited about 2015 just yet.
Agree 100%.

2014 was more similar to 2002 than to 2010. With the shakeups in the coaching staff there will be a lot more energy than what we've had since 2011.

Oregon, Alabama, and West Virginia were all very probable losses. That team almost lost to Miss St too.

Why do you think the game vs. SoCar is a toss up?
LSU should win that game. SoCar may have worse QB issues than LSU....and way less talent.
You scared of their little song and the towel wavin' ?

I'm not seeing that comparison either. 2002 was just a really weird season. People in the know realized before 2003 that if LSU got its shite together we would be dangerous.
In 2014, it wasn't about not having our shite together. It was more about several specific deficiencies in our lineup (QB, WR, defensive line).

Difference is, we have a new DC. People seem to be over looking that. We are going to a new scheme. How players pick that up will be a major issue. We don't play 3 cupcakes in a row. We play one, then off to Miss St. on the road.
We have the talent, no question about it....but the jury is still out of what our def will be like.
Besides that, it does remind me a lot of 2011.
We started off with Oregon that year, and had a new oc. Diff is we had a qb that was going into their 5th and 4th years.
But it is similar. I imagine les and Raymond didn't just sleep through all the coaches meetings. I'm sure we will run some things on d that the players are used to. Just like when we went from crowton to Stud. What was refreshing about stud was it seemed a lil less confusion and no crazy sub packages. So hopefully on d we can do some of the same with more pressure on the qb.

Nah, we led the whole game and they never got anything going on offense. That game was never in doubt.

Isn't that how it is for 2015 though? We have all of the pieces and if we get our shite together we'll go a long way. No one is predicting us to have a great year.

It was still a play away from being broken open.

Well, I guess I should have explained myself better.
I know we are not going to a "completely" new scheme, but I can promise there will be difference in coverages and things like that. Did you notice some of our DB looked lost as hell in the spring game??....some of that was due to being young and not a lot of experience. However, I am sure some of it is also about having some differences in coaching. I know he is going to keep it close as far as terminology, but there will be differences between him and Chavis as far as what he wants players to do in different coverages in different situations.
And that is what I was talking about as far as cupcakes. We don't have 3 "practice" games for our Def to get on the same page and come together and gel.
I wasn't comparing the 2011 schedule. I just meant with a new DC, we will have to be ready to go out the gate....unlike some years where we had time to get the kinks worked out.

This could be a very special year. Offensively, the tigers are deep across the board. The OL will be special, every skill position is loaded. QB has experience but is scary. The defense will be very strong up the middle, the secondary may be the best in the conference. Where is see a big question mark is at DE and OLB. Can LSU's DEs hold the pt of attack when ran directly at or get pushed around. And can the OLBers not get caught up in traffic and make tackles out on the edge. I see LSU having some serious growing pains at DE.

This season is a complete question mark for me. We could surprise and have a terrific run or we could go 8-5.
With coaching changes and QB situation, it's a guessing game.
While I agree, the usual miles haters looked at that 2011 schedule and said 3-4 losses easy. They stayed in their cave until after the bcs championship game.

I don't think probable losses. All three were top 5 teams. Toss ups.
WVU was tough, no question, that' why I said likely win.
MSU was ranked to start the season and it was Thursday game early in season. That was not a lock nor was it a terrible team.

Yeah, I'm scared.
Lot's of unknowns on both sides. Night game. Very close games in 07, 08, 12. I can put it in "favors LSU" if it makes you feel better.
That said, I swapped South Carolina and Mississippi State

Only Russell Gage and the walk-ons looked bad, and that was against first-team wideouts. Our secondary didn't do anything different than what they've been taught. Scheme hasn't changed but playcalling and different flavors have definitely been added to the defense.
I noticed that the d-line looked completely different from what we've seen under Brick and that the secondary played zone on 3rd down to compliment the pass rush.

Still trying to figure out why Texas A&M is a toss up..

2002 was just a really weird season.

to mimic 2011 we need good 3rd down percentages on both sides and a good turnover margin.

Wow that 2011 team was damn good if beating someone by 13 points is considered almost losing. Of course we did beat everybody by an average of over 20 points except alabama that year.
