Even though BR has its racial problems, look at Br magnet high.

Its truly a melting pot or UN nations. You can see whites, asians, blacks hanging out together.

Sure, things have changed. Most of the whites in EBRP have abandoned the school system by going to private school or moving to Ascension or Livingston Parish.

The EBRPSS had abandoned the students and a disproportionate percentage of whites could afford to send their children to private schools or move to Ascension or Livingston parish.

I don't think it is white flight, it's just flight with more whites being able to buy the tickets. Look at New Orleans, going to private/parochial school isn't race based, it economic based. Any race who can afford to, opts out of the NOPSS (hopefully the public schools will get better).

You may not have been around when the Federal Court system crammed integration and busing down the throat of the EBRPSB. It was not done voluntarily. The SB fought it all the way, and judge Parker got pissed and punitive.

Currently, even minorities of higher socioeconomic status have joined the flight. The public system is screwed, but the decline started with white flight. It's not likely to be fixed, because no one thinks they have a stake in public schools anymore.

The church in North Baton Rouge that I grew up in where I was baptized and taught me everything I know about Christianity banned black people from our church and even had "Deacons" standing at the front door as security. This was in 1970's. I was there and it's a fact.

This book came out way before Charleston, way before Ferguson, way before Baltimore. This book is the truth and it is fact. I was in the same neighborhood, same school and same environment as the author. If you can't handle the truth, which is our truth, don't reduce yourself to calling people names. This is way it was in those days. Our historical story needs to be respected just as much as anyone's.

What drove people out was the forced bussing of black students from black schools not even close to our neighorhood. The crime rate increased, people moved, black people moved in, violence in the schools increased. I was there. This is a fact. If you look at this particular part of town now and if you could see what it was back then, it looks like a war zone now. How do you explain that?

I remember when Tim used to be the singer for the Human Rayz, AKA the precursor to Dash Rip Rock. Friend of mine used to heckle him just to get him to react. Good times.

The days, indeed. I have his book in my que. He has another book as well.

Because honesty in facing reality is anathema to the LSU way, apparently.
