yeah- that or try to avoid the tag. The throw was so crazy good that he was fricked pretty much any way he decided to go

He should have been safe.. by rule the catcher has to have clear possession of the ball in order to be allowed to block the plate. He blocked the plate without the ball. Supposed to be an easy safe call there

You just have to make an attempt to avoid him if he is in that area, which means it has to look like you are avoiding him and there can be some grey area incidental contact. So you can't blow right through him, but you can nudge him on the outside shoulder as you make an attempt to get to the plate.
