So he wouldn't have to settle for $13k and a bus ticket next year?

So many questions...so few answers.

I happen to agree due to the fact a degree would more than make up that amount if you factor in league pay over a 5 year span

I think they someone said he has like 1 semester left of school. He can graduate in the fall and still play pro ball. No reason for him to return

100K ain't shite! Will be gone with ease.

Then he should graduate and go. Wouldn't blame him at all if that's the case

i honestly think, for baseball, they should make kids declare or not declare for the draft. it takes this bullshite "negotiating" power out of the equation and doesn't allow kids to get screwed by wanting to finish school

This would be great but frankly MLB doesnt give 2 shits about college and it's never happening.

If that's the most he can get from baseball, then take it and give Minor leagues a try, most teams include a provision to pay for the remainder of your school once you return or return in the offseason

Also I thought the amount was $150k? The slot is worth $162k i believe

honestly, it might be in their benfit. they wouldn't have to pay 20th round draft picks out of high school close to a 1 million bucks for them to leave. if they had a hard slot amount for every pick in the draft, it would save them a lot of head aches as well.

its a 100K he doesn't have...are you for real? chances are slim that he would get offered more next year.
100K spent foolishly is not much these days, but 100K invested properly at 20-21 y/o can set on up quite nicely later in life.

Or pay off any student loans/debt in general

if he's getting ready to graduate he should go for it, I don't see him doing much more than kick around in the minors for a couple of years, but if he graduates, we win a nc, and he stays in LA he'll have plenty of good career opportunities

if laird has the grades everyone says he does, i doubt he pays a dime to go to school with tops and his bball partial scholarship. i doubt he's very concerned about being to afford to pay to finish out his college degree
