Used junkers are outrageous

Whatever happened to buying a decent PoS for $500?
Trying to find a cheap vehicle that I can finance to someone to help them out and just now realizing how expensive used vehicles are. Even junk trucks from 1996 are still selling for $1500.
Thanks Obama!

I sold a ten year old suburban that had been totaled for $650 last week. Nothing is cheap anymore.

You can thank the Cash for Clunkers political gimmick for this.

That's what I am seeing.
I knew it had some impact but not to this degree.
It priced poor people out of buying vehicles they would normally be able to buy.
Maybe that's why so many of them refuse to work. No ride to get there.

As someone that was in a desperate car situation a couple months ago (basically still am), it really is ridiculous what people are asking for some shite cars. And the used dealerships aren't really any better

You can thank Obama's Cash for Clunkers. It completely emptied the market.
On top of that, it was bad for the environment.
It was complete crap.

Damn. I didn't realize the market is gone.
Been looking for a Nissan Hardbody lately.

Tell me about it. Guy charged me $1800 for a haunted totaled skateboard last month

It's actually a huge problem. When Top Gear came to America they thought they were going to be able to buy some sweet old muscle cars for around a grand.....definitely not the case. America's used car industry is ridiculous.

Yeah stout, that market is gone or way overpriced. I was amazed at the nada values of used cars a few years back. I think it was around 2010 but used vehicles in one year had started appreciating. Auctions are crazy right now and totaled vehicles are going for astronomical prices for (it seems) no reason at all.

Those old Nissans are worth their weight in gold it seems

That is a junker.
This person needs a truck for work though.
I have a line on something but it will need a little work and some tires.

Yep. I will look come see you if needed.
I think it just needs a fuel filter, a new battery, and the carb cleaned. It's been sitting up.
I will go buy him some used tires for it.

Based on my hell on earth search for a vehicle I previously mentioned
500 bucks- clunker with no engine
500-1000= 30 year old rusted out car with 300 k miles on it and a busted tranny
1000-1500- 15-20 year old cars with less rust and miles but a busted Tranny and a destroyed back end
1500-2000- nice looking cars with no title (worthless), rebuilt title (sketch), or bogus craiglist ad
Also people think that their 1990 honda civic with 400k miles on it is worth 4000 dollars for some reason
