Take that shite to the Poli Board...

Did you get a sports car? Looking to get something like a Porsche 911 and was wondering how difficult that would be.

Also I realize that the whole concept is kinda over-romanticized, but still consider it a bucket list item. I'm going to be spending money on travel anyway, might as well spend a bit more to do a boyhood dream.

Autobahn is just German for Interstate Highway. It isn't that interesting. It is like driving on I-10

I have.
It was in the European version of a Honda accord.

It's true. If you're not in a Porsche or M3, you'll get passed. It's pretty cool seeing those cars doing 130 mph. Then they're gone.

Doing 80-90 mph is as slow as you'll want to go to be safe.

’ve always said if I was a politician, one of my main platforms would be to make the driving test ridiculously hard. Like 25% of people pass the first time and some people never pass. That’s how it is in most of Europe (or even harder). American’s are insanely poor drivers. If you coast at 60 mph in the left lane in Germany I’d assume you’d go to jail. It just doesn’t happen.

The beauty of that platform is the people who would be pissed about it are too young to vote

It is a bit harder but the real barrier to entry is the cost. It costs anywhere from 4-6k to get your license. at least it did in Switzerland circa 96. That and gas is by the litre and the same price as our gallon. Most families typically are single car families so there are naturally less cars on the road.

No, you´ll be perfectly fine at 71 mph. Perfectly fine.

71 is flirting with death, IMO.

Yes, big bucks.

a bit harder

I´d say more than a bit (at least in Spain, it is).

This is why there is more than one lane. I´ve seen people going slower, quite frequently.

If traffic is OK, I'll take the autobahn to work some days. I have a VW golf gti and typically drive 150-160 km/hr. I get passed non stop like I am standing still.

As stated earlier, people here are much better drivers. The test is hard, the other drivers respectful, and the penalties are stiff. Drunk driving is not taken lightly here.

It helps that people actually respect the Polizei. And there's no such thing as police brutality there. If the Polizei think you're resisting, you're gonna get your butt beat and no one with think otherwise.

What else is funny is that I see very few police here, particularly on the side of the road. Maybe once in the past year. I've gotten a couple of speeding tickets, it they were from speeding cameras.

Yes its easy and much safer than the US highway system. People actually follow the rules of the road. You can't hang out in the left lane. There are speed limits in some places.

Once you leave the country the speed limit drops big time
