Andre Anthony will be more of a hyprid than a true DE too

I see a defense coming up in a couple of years that will make us almost forget the '11 defense. I'm talkin' single points against us average for the season.

i get that, it is extreme when you say it like that but look at the team.
Jokes about QB's aside, rarely do i think more than 1 in class is a good idea, 1 will just transfer eventually anyway. I like they way they are head there, numbers wise anyway with 1 2013, 1 2014, 1 2015, now 1 2016, 1 every year from there. 1 each class is ideal imo and leaves you with 4 at all times.
RB: We are stacked with 5 under classmen. You only take one because White is in state and a special talent, if he goes else where no need to take anyone else you get 2 in 2017 and right back in business
WR: Also stacked with underclassmen and were are not a team that runs 4 WR sets. I'd be fine with just the 2 we have, maybe add one more, like RB it a position that the state produces more than enough each year and they can contribute early.
TE: 1 is plenty
OL: Normally I'd like 4 miminmum in each class, but we got a nice haul last year, have some good depth with young guys. not as much concern about only taking 2-3 guys (preferably 3) this time and 4-5 in 2017.

How do you all see this playing out?
Unconditional Takes:
Lawrence
Davis
Fowler
Taylor (maybe)
Conditional on who else is committed:
rest of field
Just my wild arse guess!

Not to be a downer I just read on the bama board that they are very confident they land Rashard lawerence

Don't forget about DE Emmitt Gooden...the best player in the state of Tennessee, and also seems to be a guy with LSU at the top of his list. Gooden is a huge target for the staff. DT/DE Aaron Thompson out of the state of Florida also has listed LSU as his favorite. Instate DE Willie Baker is another one to keep your eye on..as he is pretty far up on LSU's instate board.

Take
Roddy, Gooden DEs
Lawrence DT
Taylor (I see him as an OT)
Thorton and Anthony as LB/EDGE
possibly Fowler but definitely him if he wants in.

So, how about Devin White?
And, isn't he an unconditional take ... On defense?

Why is that funny?
2015
offense 17
defense 6
S/T 2
We got zero LBs last year, 2 DL players (both DEs), and zero true safety prospects. We were a lot more balanced in 2014.
We have a TE, QB, 2 WR, and 1 OL. We get Allen (fingers crossed) and possibly Taylor plays OT, and we are set on offense.
We should be able to squeeze in 26.

I had forgotten all about Baker and I loved early on. IMO
1 QB Franks
2 WR Anderson, Sullivan
3 OL Allen, Campbell, ? (I like Stephon Taylor here 6'6 long arms)
1 TE Pettigrew
6 DL - Alexander, Lawrence, Logan, Gooden, 2 of Roddy/Anthony/Baker
5-6 LB - Divinity, Joyner, Thorton, Chattman, White (if he wants in), Fowler (if he wants in)
6 DB - Fulton, Smith, Mullen, Monroe/Anderson, Lewis, Williams
The front 7 is complicated because there are so many prospects high on us and many prospects are hybrids.

He doesn't have an offer. He may not get one with some of the pass rushers (both instate and OOS) on our board.

Bama "sources" are always very confident. Not to say they shouldn't be, but their side has a track record of throwing that kind of thing out there. We're in a good spot. We have been pulling our hair out that last couple years wondering where the hell all the DT signees were, and the staff saw this year's haul coming that far out. Our depth chart is working to our advantage, and I think that ultimately decides it for RL.

His uncle told me LSU is in the drivers seat 3 weeks ago and his uncle played at LSU.

Yea I think both teams have reason to feel confident about Lawrence. He likes both schools a lot, but I think in the end our defensive tackle depth and Coach O win out. Or at least I hope haha.
As for the rest of the DL board, I bet Thorton commits soon as a rush linebacker/hybrid. Dude can ball. I think Gooden is Tenn bound, but Roddy and Anthony are both solid prospects. Fowler would be the difference maker on the edge IMO.

Unconditional take on offense...RB only...that's where we are recruiting him...he's the only one we're recruiting at RB for 2016 too and he knows this. I think it will ultimately play in our favor.

Ik hes only playing in 1a ball but malcolm roach looks like a beast on tape... If hes really as big as 247 list him with that kinda athleticism a definite sleeper prospect

If I'm the best DT in the country, I want to play for coach O.
He's so charismatic and great. LSU has always recruited well but this is a whole new level. Wilson, Cam, O, Raymond, Steele, and then Les Miles.. That's as great as it gets. So much class, greatness, passion, and excitement!

what is funny is your post got 2 Down votes as did mine above breaking down the positions
I don't know why people are so pissy about. Ideally we'd have a balanced class every year, but sometimes, for various reasons you load up on one side.

Our next "balanced" class would have to be 2017. But even still, we still have to compensate for potential early defections.
