Update 2:00pm - Championship day
We won. What else do you need to know? Ben Taylor played OUTSTANDING golf and so did everyone. Boom.
LSU
Wins 4-1-0
B Pierce (LSU) BEATS R Hoey (USC) 2&1
B Taylor (LSU) BEATS B Gojuangco (USC) 1UP
Z Wright (LSU) BEATS S Crocker (USC) 3&2
E Ricard (LSU) BEATS J Texeira (USC) 1UP
E Sugimoto (USC) BEATS S Jolly (LSU) 1UP
UPDATE 8:42AM - CHAMPIONSHIP DAY
First tee time is 9.30am CT
Brandon Pierce (LSU) and Rico Hoey go off at 9.30am
Ben Taylor (LSU) and Bobby Gojuangco go off at 9.40am
Zach Wright (LSU) and Sean Crocker go off at 9.50am
Eric Ricard (LSU) and Jonah Texeria go off at 10.00am

Nice pairings, looking forward to some good golf.
I believe this is the link to the stream; LINK /
They are playing at the Concession Club in Brandenton, Florida (LINK /)
It's about 85 degrees and theres a 40% chance of rain. Winds are calm...course is a little wet from all the rain they've been getting, but it's in pretty nice shape from the looks of it.
UPDATE 10:50pm CT
The LSU tigers advanced to the final after a thrilling victory over Georgia. The Bulldogs' miracle run ended in the semi finals on a magnificent Ben Taylor back 9 that propelled the Tigers into the final.
The matchup for tomorrow are as follows...in parenthesis I put the school and their current national rank
R Hoey (USC/35) VS B Pierce (LSU/23) A/S Not Started
B Gojuangco (USC/188) VS B Taylor (LSU/137) A/S Not Started
S Crocker (USC/14) VS Z Wright (LSU/44) A/S Not Started
J Texeira (USC/91) VS E Ricard (LSU/62) A/S Not Started
E Sugimoto (USC/170) VS S Jolly (LSU/123) A/S Not Started
Analysis:
On paper LSU is favored in 4 out of 5 matches...but in reality, it's probably even money and, if I had to guess, will come down to Jolly who has had an up and down week.
Sujimoto, on the other hand, has had quite a fabulous week and was 5 under headed into 18 before the match was conceded today against his opponent. On the other hand, Jolly was 1 over when his match was conceded. We will need a huge day from Stewart to put away the Trojans. He can do it, he's been playing great all year long.
To give perspective on talent - heading into NCAA's, only LSU, Auburn, and Texas had 5 players all ranked in the top 100. This USC team has had quite a great run here in the past 2 months, but our depth, on paper, has been better.
The really big sleeper stat here is the number of birdies. USC was ranked 2nd all season long in number of birdies with 706...LSU was not ranked top 20 (the 20th team had 591..which is a considerable difference).
I am pulling really hard for the Tigers tomorrow, and I think we can do it. If USC struggles out of the gate and the ball doesn't find the cup, Jolly plays like his normal self, and Zach Wright can string together the same play he had today - we should be fine.
UPDATE 11:10am CT
LSU beats Vanderbilt and advances to semi-final
We will play the 3 seed Georgia in the Semi finals
The match will start at 12.30pm CT and you can watch the stream here: .

figured we could use this thread to keep everyone aprised on the situation at match play
Summary so far:
The Tigers finished team stroke play in 7th (the top 8 advance to match play) and had Vanderbilt (a top 5 nationally team), the 2 seed, up in the first round of match play.
The match started at 6am CT and has been going INCREDIBLY well for LSU.
We are leading the match 3-1-1
B Pierce (LSU) LEADS T Humphrey (Vandy) 1UP thru 12
B Taylor (LSU) LEADS M Schwab (Vandy) 4UP thru 11
C Jacobs (Vandy) VS Z Wright (LSU) A/S thru 10
E Ricard (LSU) LEADS Z Jaworski (Vandy) 3UP thru 9
H Stewart (Vandy) LEADS S Jolly (LSU) 1UP in thru 9

This is probably a dumb question, but do you advance to the semis by winning 3/5 pairings through 18 holes?
Posted on 6/2/15 at 8:57 am to MC5601
If we can get through this, anything can happen and it's not too far fetched to think we can win a national title.
Only 3 teams have 5 players in the top 100... LSU, Auburn, and Texas.
Auburn didn't qualify to match play, and Texas is currently down 2-1-2 to USCw
We have excellent depth and anyone can be our #1. Exciting times for LSU golf

Golf & Baseball championships would be a great lead-in to football season

I've been saying this a lot. Winstead is the best LSU coach on staff. His ability to recruit and motivate is phenomenal. I mean look at his former players on the tours.
