A security bug has been spotted over the weekend that may leave older Apple computers vulnerable. To some, the Mac is impenetrable to viruses and other malicious software, but the rest of us know that's not true as it looks like another security hole has been overlooked by Cupertino.

Dude. A crap ton of Mac owners think that.

I guess no one I know who has a mac... including myself. I'm a system admin. Windows and Linux redhat. To think any OS is invulnerable is fricking hilarious.

Well yeah. Tech guys like you and me know that. The average mass user... Nope.

Fair enough I guess. People are so damn gullible.

Anyone smart enough to own a Mac is smart enough to appreciate vulnerabilities.

Why did a tech guy like you not post this on the tech board?

How come I've never gotten a virus on my Macbook but lots on pcs?

My wife bought a MacBook in 2011. 15in for like $2000. I thought she was crazy. Last year the mouse pad exploded, well the batter underneath it did. Only way to use it now is if it's charging and with a wireless mouse.
I bought her a 17in HP laptop for $600. She said she'll never go back to Mac.
I love my iPhone 4 because it fits my needs. Apple makes decent products but they aren't the end all be all of tech. Apple products can't be enhanced or altered for improvement. I bought my Asus computer tower and put like $500 in upgraded hardware in it, good luck doing that with a Mac.

Because this is kind of a PSA for Mac users, and there are more on this board than the tech board.

Do you ever run a virus scan to check ? You may have one and not know it.
I have never had a virus on any PC that I have owned.

Because no one gives a shite about MacBooks.
Hackers concentrate on Windows because something like 98% of business is done on Windows.
Noone gives a shite about hacking and stealing your recent garage band project or a list of your favorite coffee shops or the 45 cents you have in the bank.
No investment bank or financial industry or credit card hub is running its business through apple computers. So no hacker dedicates the time to write a smart virus for them.

Had a professor tell me if you are going into the entertainment or media(photos, videos, and the like) industry, learn Mac.
For all the rest of us we use windows lol.
