Boycotting a World Cup

Michael Davies said in the most recent MIB podcast that he's heard serious rumblings that if things at FIFA don't change drastically from now to Russia 2018, that England and probably the USA, would boycott the World Cup. It sounds crazy, but he seemed really confident about it. He said England were more likely of the two, but that we would probably follow suit. Along with our sponsorship dough.
BTW it's not like this guy is a clown or anything. Davies is a very powerful dude behind the scenes. Producing/creating tv shows, etc. I want to say he was one of the guys that created who wants to be a millionaire, and then brought it to America. Anyway, he knows people.
Could/Would this ever really be a possibility?

Well, that was done for political reasons which was a mistake. It perplexes me why Jimmy Carter thought boycotting the Olympics would cause the Soviets to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. It was pointless. This is different. If all of the European countries boycotted the World Cup along with Brazil, Argentina and a few other South American countries, the World Cup would be meaningless. FIFA would lose a lot of money from sponsorship, TV distribution rights, merchandise, etc... Hitting FIFA is really the only thing that would cause change.

That was never about IOC corruption, that was about cold war tit for tat.

Why would they do that? Most of those FAs (and I'm including the English one) are just as bent as the rest of FIFA.

Davo may know people because he's pretty powerful in the TV industry (see MIB actually getting a show). If England boycotts it'd be because UEFA, or a large chunk of UEFA, is boycotting. No one will sit at home by choice when everyone else on Earth is there. It does nothing for the cause.
We need a lot of changes before then, though, or it'll be a shitshow.

I like it. A star above our crest with an asterisk is like having 2 stars above our crest.

I've seen you copy paste this about ten times in the last week. Nothing else to add to the conversation?

"England team agree to boycott knockout stages of 2018 World Cup"
Jack Warner thinks this is true

I'm just pointing out that it's a pointless conversation to have.
I also think it's quite stupid that this board thinks the Euro FAs are paragons of virtue.
I also find it funny that this board has spent the last three+ years defending corruption.

The European FAs are not FIFA. Plus, I don't think anyone really believes this.

What corruption was being defended?

That is quite the straw man you have built.
