The "workaround" that seafood places use is that they let the customers but it with EBT, and then charge $1 to boil it.

Rule #1 of the OT. Don't piss the rednecks off by fcking up their buzz with facts about welfare dammit!
It's all drug using black women stealing your money Mfcker!

Just the fact you have jump through several hoops to qualify and also prove to be extremely poor. I didn't think the income levels would be that low to qualify. You also have to apply in person which is important IMO.

Number 2 is an absurd argument. The SNAP budget is over $80 billion, so the $120 million spent at military locations is about 0.1%. Lets not act like the hard-working military makes up a substantial portion of welfare use.

Last weekend, at Louisiana Cajun Seafood on Coursey Blvd, I watched the 4 people in line in front of me use the Louisiana Purchase card to buy the same boiled crawfish that I paid for.
There is a sign behind the counter stating that purchases made with EBT cards cannot be eaten on the premises.
This is me seeing it with my own eyes, not hearsay.

You have to not have a good job. People that don't want to work normally don't have a good job.
And you have to not have over $2K in the bank. Very easy to do when you deal in cash. Hmmmmm...
It seems very simple to qualify, even when you don't really qualify. Hmmmmm...
And you get rewarded for having more dependents. Hmmmmm....
I don't appreciate the program any more after reading that. Maybe I'm the only one.

Boiled crawfish to go are fine to buy with EBT card

Son of bitch. Are you saying if my wife and I have 12 kids that we can be rich?

Maybe you're just a cynical a-hole?
Yeah, every program can and is exploited by unworthy individuals. I'd prefer the government to waste money by trying to feed the hungry and give some kickback to the food service industry than many of the other ways they find to blow our tax dollars.

OK, read all of that. Which part is supposed to make me appreciate this program more?
Should you ever need it.

Here's another food stamp fact. Maine just enacted a measure saying food stamp recipients need to work 20 hours a week, or do 24 hours of volunteer work a month to keep food stamp benefits.
You would think with the "myths" you posted that not many would be affected, considering most of them work right?
Well just 24 hours a month of required work cut the number of recipients 80%!
80% of people were not even willing to work LESS THAN AN HOUR A DAY!

If folks on food stamps had specialized stores that, say, were co-opped with farmers, that would be fantastic. They could get nutritious food items that would sustain their family and improve their health. Further, it could help farmers. Killing multiple birds with one stone.

The biggest problem I've had with food stamp users is wanting me to charge them extra and give them cash back.
I've been offered a ribeye rack for $20 cash.
I'm sure everyone has seen someone buy their food with EBT and buy cigs and alcohol with cash

I went to walmart a few weeks ago (it was around the first of the month) and some lady had 2 carts full of steaks and snow crab legs
you wouldn't believe how pissed she was that she couldn't buy cigarettes with food stamps
I have the same problem as stated above. It is meant to make ends meet and not to provide luxuries. I'm all about someone getting the necessities. You don't need chocolate, cigarettes, soda, etc. If you want to blow your allotment on snow crabs go ahead. Unfortunately, you can't stop the secondary market and that feeds the issue.

Site linked are "Forward Progressives" and The Hunger Coalition. I'm sure neither one of those has a vested interest in making this program look better than it is

Because I don't "appreciate" the program like you, after reading the qualifications you touted as being so impressive?
Ok,
