Les is better at LSU than Saban was.

He has been here longer and he walked into a better situation.

Despite that, his lows have been lower and his highs haven't been as high as Saban's.

And don't blame us for talking about Saban. I don't see anyone starting threads saying that Les ISN'T the greatest coach in LSU history. If you don't want to hear about Saban, don't start threads like this.

As long as there is this website, and les miles is coach there will be many idiots that will say he isn't.

What's even worse is that many of these people will not provide valid reasons.

Other than urban or saban who would the rantards want as coach? I wouldn't mind orgeron as coach if it came down to that

Yall do realize we lost 5 games last season, right?
And that "2-loss Les" has actually lost 3 or more games in half his seasons here?
And that Mr Dominant in Bowl Games is now at 60% in bowl games?
And that he's only won the west 3 times in 10 years?

I know you can call him the "greatest at LSU" by some definitions, but that's just semantics. What difference does it make?

Yes, we all recall ... beat Wisky because Gordon got hurt and Wisky lost their minds ... the big win over the powerhouse that was Florida ... getting punked by Moo St, for the most part ... getting destroyed by Barn ... didn't show up vs. the Hogs... blowing it vs. the Gumps ... and the inexcusable humiliation at the hands of fricken Notre Dame.

It was a bad year ... our QB play was not good.

But ... this year will be different ... we've got new quarterba..... uhhhh ... never mind. shite.

You can talk bout Nick all you want. He was a fine coach at LSU for the short period of time he wanted to be here.

BUT...there is nothing Nick did here that Miles hasn't equaled or bettered. And I don't give a flying flip bout Nick only being here 5 yrs. That was his decision.

Despite that, his lows

This is just me, but as "lows" go Nick's loss to UAB in TS tops, and by far, any Miles low.

his highs haven't been as high as Saban's.

Nick took LSU to 1 NCG. Miles has taken LSU to 2 NCGs. Nick had 2 Top 10 ranked teams at LSU and Miles has had 5 Top 10 ranked teams at LSU. Miles had back to back to back 11 or 11+ game winning seasons and Nick was never able to have back to back 10 game winning seasons.

Miles is already the most successful HC in LSU, let me say again, in LSU football history.

Now now Choctaw, you are not supposed to remind the sabanslobbers about that. They prefer to think that Chuck Norr eerrrr I mean littlenicky simply WILLED those other teams to lose so that he could coach in a NC game.

thats your opinion. losing to UAB at home was one of my lowest points as an LSU fan

i knew Saban would be brought up. i just don't care for revisionist history and ignoring of facts.

Miles has coached over twice as many games in a much, much tougher SEC and still has a higher win%. you have to go back to LSUs first championship year (1908) to find a coach with a higher win% and who coached a decent amount of games.

thats pretty tough to do if you suck

I'd be OK with another BCS bowl before he's gone in 2017-8.

IMO that's his ceiling right now. He might become the winningest coach in LSU history but he's not a top ten coach by any opinion except the ones expressed by his fanboys on this and other LSU sites. All of the "most" records he compiled from 2005-2011 have been getting whittled away as other coaches get more seasons and Les loses 3-4 a year. That will probably continue.

Time will tell and I expect to see him leave with the highest win total in LSU history and his one NC.

Only because he has been here longer... But what Saban did while here aside from being the football coach has a longer lasting impression... Those things have helped Miles bigtme.

But YES Miles at this point is a better coach at LSU than Saban won. I just wonder how you would feel if Saban was still coaching here and had won three more titles.........

He is a Top 10 HC overall for the past 10 yrs. based off the only thing that matters to me and that's results. And those results were obtained during a time period when the SEC was a stronger conference than it was during 2000-2004.

When you have the 2nd best record in college football in the past 10 yrs. to go along with 2 BCSCG appearances, 3 west titles, 2 SEC titles, and 5 Top 10 finishes nationally, you are damn sure Top 10 coaching material based off results.

Don't know WTF he is thinking. LSU was ranked in the Top 3 for the majority of the second half of the 2003 season. In fact, the """"""" O N L Y """"""""
reason LSU was not ranked #2 for the 2nd half of the season is because USC lost EARLIER in the year than LSU did.

LSU had the best defense in CFB that year, as evidenced when we held #1 Oklahoma to 2 TDs - both set up by short fields - on a blocked punt and INT; and 150 total yards (half of which came in the last 8 minutes of the game.)
This was the same #1 Oklahoma that had averaged close to 60 points per game and was annointed 'team of the century.'
LSU did not need ANYONE to lose in 2003.

And in 2007, LSU won 12 games and the SEC title.
How the hell is it LSU's fault that West Va, Pitt and Missouri all lost and that Kansas had the worst SOS in CFB ???????
Also, we destroyed NUMBER ONE Ohio State by 3 TDS (tOSU got a garbage TD against our 3rd string late).
