This is literally the first year we don't have multiple major players who didn't come through the academy.

What ever makes you feel better at night though.

United's policy Youth, Young English players and impact players from overseas. Nothing has changed in 30 years.

Now back to actually talking about Depay. Do you have anything knowledgeable to say?

Can you two quit derailing every thread with the same old argument? If I wanted to actually discuss how great this signing is going to look for United, it would get buried under your nonsense.

That was him not me, multiple times I said back on topic.

What do you think about sending januzaj on loan.

I think the Dutch league could do wonders for his confidence.

Just don't even engage him or the Chelsea idiot who said United were going to spend more than everyone combined in the first place.

You do know that's an option, right?

Paddy McNair is legit awful right now. Makey really basic and silly mistakes. He might develop into something but it's clear he isn't a PL level player at the moment.

United have played poorly all year and have wasted a lot of money. They've won games but have never looked impressive, and lately they look toothless in the final third. Their problems are deep in midfield and buying Depay won't solve thaf.

He was bad vs Everton but was great vs Chelsea

Results are results and when we went on that run crushing City Liverpool and Spurs we didn't look poor at all.

The team is night and day when Carrick isn't playing. Herrera can fill that role and looked good Saturday playing as the mid protecting the back four. Blind in the role has been a roller coaster.

I think the Depay purchase is making way for potentially selling DiMaria. Maybe we can get PSG to bite.

GET THOSE KICKS IN

ETA: I think buying a good young goalscorer who can play multiple positions is good for a team that dominates possession but can't seem to find the back of the net these days but lulz what do I know, I'm just a dumb United fan

He also gave away the foul on Fletcher that lead to West Brom's goal. And in general has not looked very good when put under any type of pressure. Also nearly broke Wilshere's ankle for a horrible challenge that he somehow got away with.

3 games don't make a season. They've won but still don't look a good team, because they aren't. They might beat Arsenal and my point will still stand.

He was under no pressure, and if chipping aimless 30 yard balls is the equivalent of doing what Carrick does, then you are in serious trouble. Finding good deep lying midfielders is hard as hell, and it's still to be determined if Herrera can hold a midfield by himself like Carrick.

It's obvious how important Carrick is to our team right now. Just look at our results and style of play with him vs. without him. It's my opinion we'll sign a potential replacement for Carrick to pair with Herrera in midfield. Looks like it could be Gundogan, who's been playing a deeper role in the past year from what I understand. But, yeah, I don't think Herrera's immediate future is necessarily in the Carrick mold.

ETA: I agree with Crazy's assessment of young Paddy. I'm a huge fan and think he'll be something special in the coming years. Not quite there yet physically or mentally. But think he'll develop and is getting great experience as a result of key injuries.

he's had lapses like most 19 year olds do. But LvG picks him bc of his confidence on the ball.

thats why you like to dog him

When we run the 4-3-3 we look good all the other nonsense not so much.

I've been on their case since August. And I've been pretty consistent in what I've said. I think they bought poorly as more of a kneejerk reaction rather than trying to fix the needs of the team.

That's a fair enough point, but they've rarely looked competent. There is always a sense that they could frick up, and by God they have.

Yep. If United are going to keep running the double pivot in the midfield, no one besides Carrick has the ability yet to stay back and distribute as well as defend.

Herrera is more of the surging forward midfielder or even the No. 10 in a 4-2-3-1. Fellaini isn't it. Blind looked great at times this season (note: although United have always been terrible this season and have never looked good), but he looked more at home as the LB.
