Have you tried Space Cake? Easily a top IIPA

NBD-2014 edition. I think this is great and will check to see if I have another because it is drinking very well now. The spices have mellowed some but are still prominent. I may wait to next fall if I have another but no longer. I am a big fan of big thick stouts like this, I am so disappointed when I get an Impy stout and it is thin.

Isn't he coming to Red Dragon in BR soon?

I have not. Always questioned freshness. I've had Hoppy Feet (not a normal IPA) and Galactica (god awful malty mess).
I seriously cannot express how awful Galactica has been both times I've purchased it. Atrocious.

Freshness. Most of my experiences with their draft selections are absolutely fantastic. We sell a ton of their product. They have some of the best easily obtainable BA beers on the market. EAB, Porcine, Crasher, RtL, HotH, etc etc... all are fantastic.

I will not buy a hoppy beer that doesn't have a date on it. If you don't put a bottling date or best by date where i can track the bottling date then you are a bad brewery in my eyes. In a perfect world all beer reps would require stores to pull their hoppy beers form shelves after 3 months or so.

they will generally buy it back. gotta learn to read bottle codes for dating on a lot of brews. a lot of them are on the bottom to prevent rubbing off also. louisiana has old beer all over shelves everywhere. we don't have the population to support the distribution capacity we get. we throw away a lot of beer across the board. it's a necessary evil.

A-fricking-men. No date is SHAMEFUL in this day and age. Lazy Mag is still bad about dating. I haven't tasted a Timber Beast in at least a year, I'm guessing, because bottles just don't show up here with dates and we apparently don't get kegs anymore. When I first moved back to LA, that was my favorite regional beer. God damn shame.
As for Clown Shoes, Ride the Lion is a beer I'd never order as I generally find Wee Heavy's underwhelming. And HotH gets a yellow flag because it's "smoked." I find most smoked beers to be overwhelmingly smoky to the degree that they obscure all the other good things. Still sipping the Blaecorn
ETA @TheCoveBR, can you tell me about why the frick we don't get Timber Beast anymore? We used to have that shite all the time. Ticks me off. A nice DIPA with some rye kick is right up my alley.

It's not just there, it's a problem everywhere. I find 6 month old or older Dales all over up here. I hate having to decipher some of the different codes but if i like the beer fresh I will figure it out. If no code or date I will buy something else. I won't buy an ipa that is over 3 months old and I try to stay within 6 weeks of bottling.

A bomber appeared at my office last week via the BXN.
It is a relatively light IPA. It is crisp and the hops are green and fresh. Very nice.

Really? Interesting. We have had a lot of discussion about hop longevity here, but you're the first I've seen suggest a 3 month window. My ideal is sub-one month. If it's one I like and know holds up, 6 weeks. I honestly think I'd pass up 2 month old Pliny for 5 week old, say, Ghost.
Sorry. I just can't think of an appropriate analogy.

Same here. 2 months is fine for most and some hang for 3.

Timber Beast is still around... Just more of a touch and go thing with Lazy Mag. They focus on Mississippi where their support is resounding. Almost every restaurant you go to has fresh Lazy Mag small distro stuff on tap. Mostly along the gulf coast. Chandeleur is coming up in Biloxi real quick too. I'll have to ask Jacob about timber beast because we used to do casked stuff with Lazy Mag all the time. Their rep, Josh Boggs moved to Arkansas and left the company. That's probably why their distribution went to shite in LA.

I usually go to the store with what I want in mind so I go straight after it and check the date. Anything up to 6 weeks is fine IMO. If the beer is fading that fast then it probably wasn't good to begin with. Double Jack is still really good at 3 months and Dales is still pretty good at that date. I honestly probably only buy 4-5 different ipas so I don't do much looking. If I have a Dales hankering and it is over 6 weeks old, I may check Odells ipa date. I'll settle at 3 months if need be, any older than that and I am leaving without buying anything.

shite.
You da man
It's nice to have a voice from the within the industry. That's a perspective we don't often get. I've heard of Chandeleur because Coater has posted it, but I've not had the pleasure yet. And if TB is still around, I hope LA sees some soon. I miss it. Good stuff.

I disagree. Louisiana has more people than Oregon. Zealot and I were just talking about how busy Courtyard Brewing is. I think more local breweries will generate more interest in craft beer. Especially if the local breweries are set up as brewpubs that draw people in for their food, as well, you will see more interest in craft beer, which will help places like Corporate and The Cove.

Truth. There are some brewers that don't put dates on their beers. I don't buy 'em if I don't know how old it is. I tend to drink draft most of the time, because of that.
If I buy a bottle, I go to a bottleshop where I know the person selling it to me, and they can tell me what's fresh (if there's not date on the bottle).

LBD is more Cahoots Saison and then bedtime.
Cried my eyes out watching that stupid tv show everyone has been freaking out about.
Agree with no more than 3 months and even 3 months pushes it .
