No, seriously. Describe the situation in detail. There is a fine line between being at fault for something and not. If he got smoked in the face by a line drive as you say, then I would originally assume he wasnt sitting behind a net because line drives are not fouled backwards. If he is sitting in an area not netted, then that puts him over a dugout or down a line, which if that's the case then it 100% his fault for not paying attention, just like the idiots that get hit by loose bats.

What you are doing is the exact definition of trolling, posting asinine comments to try and get a rise out of me. How ironic. I like to debate and yes, I always try to bring logical thinking into everything. It's not a stretch to say "DONT HAVE YOUR frickING BACK TURNED TO AN MLB GAME WHEN SITTING BEHIND THE PLATE", but because I have a differing opinion well I must be trolling.

You are the one who made the ridiculous comment about people falling/killing themselves and comparing it to this.

That was obviously getting at liability and who is at fault, but go ahead and take that out of context and try to insinuate that I was comparing the two incidents on a severity level. I was merely comparing the "woman gets hit by ball behind home plate, must be loose nets" vs "man falls over edge trying to retrieve ball, rails must have been too low" outlook that people have instead of "dont turn your back to the action" and "dont lean over the rails". Accountability is all but lost.

“Thankfully, the fan was released from the hospital following those examinations,” Pirates spokesman Brian Warecki said in a statement this morning. “...The organization is in the process of reaching out to her to show our support.”

The team said the fan was “conscious and alert at the time of transport, graciously thanking her caregivers while giving a ’thumbs up’ gesture to nearby fans.” Cubs Starlin Castro had fouled a pitch from A.J. Burnett directly behind the plate in the top of the second inning. The ball did not go through the protective netting, but struck the woman standing close to the screen in the first row of seats.

UPDATE: The Pirates issued the following update Tuesday morning: "The female fan who was struck by a foul ball during last night’s game was sent via ambulance to the hospital for the appropriate examinations. Thankfully, the fan was released from the hospital following those examinations. We are extremely grateful for this positive outcome. The organization is in the process of reaching out to her to show our support. Due to privacy laws, we will not reveal the name of the fan, nor additional details at this time. We wish to thank the PNC Park personnel and fellow fans who were on the scene at the time, as well as the Pittsburgh EMS for their quick response."

So Im assuming all of you in here believe that MLB teams should be sued when a fan falls over the edge of a balcony and injures/kills himself too right?
Not as a rule. Definitely depends on the circumstances. For instance, that moron at the Buffalo Bills game who was intentionally sliding down the rail and fell down into the level below injuring others in the process. That sort is not in line to sue. If you are doing standard event things, i.e. walking down set aisle boundaries, purchasing food in designated areas, sitting in designated seating areas, then you shouldn't be subject to injury. It seems as though this woman wasn't even trying to get too close to the net, and was simply moving about in a designated walking/seating area as her ticket admittance allowed. Her situation is potentially a suit because despite the fact that she was properly staying within her area boundaries, she was still subject to a potentially fatal injury. You can't seriously think the pirates couldnt have just made sure they had the net set safely back from the fans.

Let's not forgot if she wasn't walking through the row in the middle of an at bat and blocking everyone's view she wouldn't have been hit. Basic fan courtesy goes a long way.
At some hockey games I've been to they block the aisle and don't let you down to your seat until a stoppage in play

They don't let you go up and down the aisles at minute maid park in Houston
If there's no rule in place, and even if there was, I don't think that the lady should be blamed for being hit with the ball
Some people in this thread are making some huge reaches
I bet every single one of them watches every single pitch of every game they've ever been to
