I have had three, I put all my shite under the garage, just piled up, no effort at all. Then at like 4am I get up and drink coffee. Then the flea market people show up with flashlights.

I just walk out and tell em a lump sum for everything. Probably half what I could get sitting out there all day. But I don't have to set up, price shite, or have anything left over.

Just go take the signs down, close garage, and go back to sleep.

They pay upfront and always send some special needs nephew or something to pick it up later

As a major garage/estate sale customer, I do not negotiate at all unless I am buying bulk (how much for everything?). I am treasure hunting, so most of the things I buy less then $10 (worth $100+).

Unlike what some have said here, Baton Rouge has some GREAT garage sales, just know where to go. I stick to old, wealthy neighborhoods (Garden District, University Acres, Old Goodwood, Webb park area, etc).

These people buy nice things and sell them at a garage sale to get rid of them, not trying to make money.

There are two apps for iPhone, one is the app for the Advocate and another is "Garage Sale Finder". The latter one searches all ads on craigslist and other places besides the Advocate.

I usually bring $100, but have run to the ATM to get a few hundred when I have come across a large lot.

This is my diamond in the rough find today. I paid $5, it is worth about $150.

I'm just not afraid of shelling out $15 instead of trying to jew a seller down to $10. Sorry for being a baller.

1. You aren't a baller
2. No one gets to be a baller by being frivolous with money. Only "$60K millionaires" have that sort of attitude.

I'll hit the garage sales from time to time. I mainly look for tools or some cheap video games for the kids. I've had the best luck when I lived in Zachary and would visit the rural areas outside of town. Got a lot of decent tools for dirt cheap.

Now I only go to garage sales if I happen to drive by them. I don't intentionally set out looking for them, I already have too much junk.

One thing I have heard about this sale, it is now mostly professional antique dealers, and very few true garage sales. Dealers come from all over the country to set up shop for the weekend.

Please tell me you don't actually buy pillows at garage sales.

I bought throw pillows that came with a trunk once. They matched the top of the trunk and were from an old lady's estate sale.

They aren't pillows you actually use.

I've purchased bath towels at garage sales. Ain't no shame in my game.

Do you have the actual ability to sell that for $150 or is it just "worth that"?

I am assuming it is heavy and shipping to sell on eBay would be pricey.
