No I understand, but I don't think in any single way they're superior in just that aspect, let alone as movies. BTW, Other than the end of PM, there isn't a Star Wars like space battle. The opening of sith makes me want to puke. The action scenes bore me to the same degree that the dialogue scenes do.
Yes, suuuuper gay for Star Wars

I thought the maul one was kind of cool how it moved fast because I thought it was because he was such a badass, had a double sided saber, and had to move quickly because he was fighting two guys
Then I saw clones...barf

This is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time, but Darth does make that LS look like it weighs 90 lbs. in that shot. Even Dark Helmet had more dexterity.

It doesn't compare to empire or jedi. It at the very least doesn't shatter my suspension of disbelief like the prequel fights did

So I just finished downloading the despecialized versions and I am in awe of how good the picture is. I can't wait to watch them all this weekend

Those first 2 gifs are a perfect example of why the prequel trilogy sucked. So completely ridiculous and over the top.

I admit I loved the final fight scene between Obi and Anakin in Sith. I found it epic though if Obi-wan had any character he would of put his good friend out of his misery after lopping off his arms and legs.
What I detested was the locale.
In fact, I can say that about virtually every star wars movie where light sabers were involved with the exception of the first fight in the original star wars between Darth and Obi-wan.
It's like jedi warriors can't whip out their light sabers on any terrain unless one misstep will lead to their deaths.

Have to say as shitry as AOTC was when Yoda whipped out the light Saber it was bad freaking arse.
My take on the new Star Wars movie, I think it'll be good. A lot of care is going into this movie and there are many eyes on it to make sure it's not a frick up, unlike previous installments that only Lucas had to put a signature of approval.

I forgot about that 4 armed robot thing.
The prequels were horrible.

In Empire we met Yoda, an 800-900 year old creature hobbling around with a staff. We also met the Emperor. In Jedi we see him walking slowly, like an old man, yet we are to believe 20 years earlier these 2 engaged in this battle where Yoda flips around and wields the LS with super speeds.

I was honestly emotionally effected by seeing Han Solo with Chewie. Didn't expect that. The bonds of this movie are strong on pretty much everyone my age.
It takes me back. A childhood friend of mine was about as big of a Star Wars fan as ever lived. Unfortunately he died of cancer before finishing elementary school. He was buried with a Luke Skywalker and Han Solo doll in either hand.

quote:That's sad. My dad was a huge Superman fan. The last movie he saw in theaters before he died was Man of Steel and he loved it. I was there with him with my two kids. It's something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. It's unfortunate that he won't be around to see the new movies, because I know that he would love them.

I thought Maul vs Obi vs Qui Gonn was the 2nd best fight in the whole series.
The rest of the prequel fights were meh other than Anakin vs Obi
But the GOAT is Empire's Luke vs Darth

The locales in the prequels are pretty boring beyond the "epic" final confrontation.
Some giant power generator room, a hangar, outside in the desert, some room on a ship, the senate (exemplifies boring), etc
The final confrontation between vader and Luke was in emperor palpatine' throne room aboard the Death Star overseeing an epic (truly epic) space battle. The fight in cloud city, the best, was so cool because of the lighting, blocking, and dangerous heights (cloud city duh)
The most memorable fight in the prequel series is maul and the 2 jedi. Easily. Slow that one down a bit and find something between the characters and you have a pretty great fight

So a good fight is dependent on the location...am I getting you right?
Posted on 4/21/15 at 8:30 am to White Shadeaux
No, but as an aside I don't think even the locations are better in the prequels
Now I do think sets make a big impact on the visual quality. The ultimate point is there isn't one single thing in the prequels that is superior to the originals, which is all the more shocking when you consider sith came out 21 years after jedi. Imagine if gorgeous George had total control 30 years ago.

You guys don't get it.
4, 5, and 6 took place after the galactic senate/council fell. After all the Jedi fell. After everything. 4, 5, and 6 were the Wild West of that galaxy. Cowboys, indians, and big bad money all versus each other.
1, 2, and 3 were order. Order with a bit of greed and lust thrown in. Everything was intact in the galaxy.
You wonder why lightsaber battles were grander in 1, 2, and 3? You wonder why battles were grander?
Maybe because there was a freaking Jedi school and lots of structure to provide the training...and all the troops for the big battle.
Luke had to learn lightsaber fighting from 2 old retired Jedi in hiding who haven't wielded a lightsaber in years and years. When they trained (Yoda and Obi Wan), they were training with Jedi like Mace Windu (probably in his prime) and Qui Gon Jinn.
It all makes sense.
Look at the story as a whole.
