I remember watching the video when it premiered and Axl jumped off the oil tanker to start swimming with dolphins and it was like a giant sign: "THAT DUDE HAS DONE WAY TOO MANY DRUGS."

If Appetite and Lies did not exist, we'd be looking at a harder and edgier version of the likes of Dream Theatre. In no way and I comparing the sounds...just the experience of listening to a double-album with 3-4 long, musical ballads ala November Rain, Estranged, etc. The problem though is int too short a time (4 years) you had Guns N Roses become The Beatles.
The Illusion albums are still great and I have find memories of buying both and that was when Cd's still come in the album box. You Could Be Mine and Get in the Ring, e.g., would have fit better on Lies than the Illusion albums. The mix was a bit hasty...the songs never really flowed together.
My underrated favorite GNR songs are Yesterdays and It's So Easy. My Michelle and Don't Cry are my two least favorite songs they ever put out. Rocket Queen and One in a Million are almost unidentifiable to any of the albums...as if they're their own separate works.

I agree with this.

I also like the song Patience. Nobody can whistle like Axl.

Mine would have to be 14 years & Pretty tied up.
I don't think there is an underrated song on Appetite.
