This course should be way more punishing for the bad tee shots. Augusta was just too friendly this weekend. The pine needles were no challenge for anyone. And if you hit it past those, you were sitting pretty on another fairway.

Looks like a throwback links course. Interesting choice for a US Open

Played here in Feb... The course is AWESOME. They had about half the greens closed for the Open, but none the less it is definitely a must play course. Views of the Puget Sound are amazing.

I hope they make it hard as shite.

I would lose so many balls out there without forecaddies or marshalls to find them. wind has to be insane there

Will it have typical US Open rough?, Making it a zillion times harder than Augusta?
The US Open is by far the best major.

I mean if they wanted to have it on a course with no trees, they should have had it at LaTour baw.

I played it in 09 while in town for the LSU/UW game. One of the people in my foursome was a British teaching pro. He said it was as authentic a links course as any in Britain. I thought it was a fantastic experience. It was a beautiful day, and that course requires a completely different approach relative to a typical target golf course. I'm really looking forward to it.
Also, about that tree, some a-hole was upset they turned that quarry into a golf course and tried to cut it down with a chain saw.
Fortunately he failed.
