The most runs by a team in the modern era was a Yankees squad from a few years later (1931). People forget that team because it didn't win the pennant.

They weren't even the best team assembled for the 2003 season.....
Posted on 4/12/15 at 8:51 am to LSUsmartass
Was Chipper Jones the only player in the lineup who didn't use steroids to obtain his numbers?
Posted on 4/12/15 at 9:00 am to Bench McElroy
Oh I'd imagine Chip dabbled here and there, looking at those numbers and forgetting about roids...did Javy Lopez have the greatest season for a catcher ever?

Well the FLORIDA Marlins won the WS that year, so...

Nah I nominate the 1988 Atlanta Braves

99 Indians is the GOAT lineup
Manny R.Alomar Thome Justice Sexson Visquel Lofton
They had it all.

I guess I presented the question wrong, I wasn't asking about best collection of names and reputations...I was asking statistically. 27 yanks were a little better in a couple of the core categories but that was with 1927 pitching
Posted on 4/12/15 at 2:54 pm to LSUsmartass
Homer pick, but I nominate the 1997 Mariners as being a sick lineup

1997 statistically is a better lineup than 2001. 2001 was by far a better team though when factoring in pitching
Although it gets closer when you factor in the 97 team played in the kingdome and 01 played at safeco. I still would take 97 though in terms of firepower. 96 too
